yes 3 bolt
so what happens when you try to drive?

im assuming because its an open diff, all the power goes to the snapped side and the other side doesnt move?

axel break

yeh felt like a slipping clutch it only cost me $80 to fix today got a used axel for &70 and diff oil for 10 so its all good now.... so good to be driving the vr4 as i havent for over a week and the screamer sounds better than ever:p

Did you break the diff at the same time??

When I broke my axles, they were snapped so clean off they looked like they had been cut with a knife! That pic doesnt look like it was a clean break at all- maybe it had it coming!!

fidenza are now making drive shafts to combat the issue of you boys wrenching the necks out of your 63t's

id reccoment u try & launch as smoothly as possible, iv launched my 3 bolt setup a good 50 times & have no visable strain on the shafts, with 180awkws... i do my best to get no harsh jolt through the car.

And i do hope you were holding a block of wood, whilst sitting on a tree stump eating woodchips when u said that. 8) 8) 8)

when you start pushing 200kw they break just from giving it a hit. went to a 4 bolt no problems yet...

after it happens once or twice you'll find it will happen all the time cause when it breaks the oil gallerys in the diff get damaged and the shafts start to heat for lack of oil lubrication.

also you got off so cheap for a replacement. i was paying nearly $250 a shaft everytime i broke and i think i went through about 8-9 before i got hold of the 4 bolt.

Im interested, explain further..

i was told the reason it breaks in the first place on launch is because the diff gets to much play in it.
if you have a look inside the diff you will see the gallerys i was talking about and when you smash a shaft the gallery gets eaten up.
i was told the shafts develop heat fractures, i don't know if it's true but a rally guy once told me that.

im busting up the front driveshafts...

hopefully the 4bolt will be okay

adrian, did u have issues with your front axels at all???

wow n i thought i was bad the way i launch my car... i drop mine at 7500rpm prob like 20 times a week (well i used too) wont be doing that anymore with the power i'll be making now though... have to admite its alot of fun n such a thrill...

I'm nearly certain adrian didn't have a front LSD barry.

It's probably the lockup in the LSD that's causing the issue when you turn the steering wheel a bit.
