Hi all, I've found an old issue of Motor Mag from
Jan 94 when the GSR won 'Bang For Your Bucks'.

For those of you who don't know Bang for your Bucks
is about finding the best performance car for the best price
and takes into account performance, braking, steering,
handling and overall ability.

Note: prices listed are as of January 1994 $AUS
Placings:
#14 BMW 540i ($133,260)
#13 Volvo 850 T-5 ($74, 950)
#12 Porshe 911 Turbo 3.6 ($295,000)
#11 Ford Falcon XR8 Sprint ($44,250)
#10 HSV Clubsport 185i ($44,264)
#9 BMW 325i Coupe ($78,100)
#8 Ford Capri Clubsprint Turbo ($33,201)
#7 Subaru Liberty RS Turbo ($41,530)
#6 Honda NSX ($192,480)
#5 Honda Integra VTi-R ($39,260)
#4 Toyota MR2 ($47,115)
#3 Mazda RX-7 ($79,410)
#2 Mazda MX-5 ($38,260)
and the winner...
#1 Mitsubishi Lancer GSR. ($31,665)

That's a very impressive list of cars; RX-7, 911 Porshe,
NSX etc that the humble GSR topped.

Phillip Island lap time = 2:06.77 (driver: Larry Perkins)
(Forget Bathurst. Phillip Island is THE best track in Aus).
To put that time into perspective the Liberty RS Turbo,
costing $41,530, having more power and a faster
0-100 time, posted a 2:07.96.
Seems like the inconspicous GSR is quite quick and nimble
when it wants to be hey.

Motor sums it up best on page 38
"But the biggest turn up for the books was the diminutive Lancer
GSR heading the field. Just remember the next time you get close to
a GSR in your mega-buck exoticar, big-grunt V8 or twin-turbo
rocket, that the little four door offers about the best
performance Bang for your Bucks in the country".

Enjoy your GSR's everyone.
