Hey guys. I am at work on camp til late next week and am collating pieces required for tuning. I understand that I need a capable ecu, got an EVO 8 one already, obd2 USB cable (Tactrix?), WB Mtx-l.
As i already have the 560cc injectors the only missing piece is the question of the MAF.
I have a 055 and was wondering whether this will be OK to use with the EVO 8 ecu or will I have to change it?

BTW, getting the cable for 3port to 4port for the ecu loom and Merlin's guide as well......
 
I was originally running a 055, it was fine. Tuner told me to get a e8 maf. Without tuning the maf it will run lean. From what I can tell you don't need a later model maf, it's made no difference. I was using a tactrix 1.3u cable.
I just made a patch loom to connect the ecu, costs about $15.
 
Isnt the 787 very close to the 399?
And ya got a link for this 3 to 4 port loom, just wanna see whats needed an ill make a couple up for us 4gers,
I have just put the e7 ecu/ inj/ maf in my rvr and have evo scan an 1.3u cable on its way (ordered tuesday)
I went with all matching stuff so I can see how everything interacts as std before I try anything,
 
Get rid of the MAF all together..run SD....soooo much better and gets rid of the need for OEM inlet pipe so opens up a whole new world of intake possibilities!

yea jamo, thats where ill be headed, just need to understand it all before I go tampering, whats involved/ needed in the sd setup,
 
787 and 399 have the later afm plug, so it wont plug in. Get them from a ce or later loom. Also get the 4th ecu plug as well.
Read the merlin guides, both the e7-9 and the e10. Some of the e10 stuff is better explained than in the e7-9.

Agree that sd is the finishing goal. But there is no barometric compensation for sd, no biggie over here where we have no mountains, but may affect some of you hill dwellers.
there is a few that say a generic cable will flash the ecu, i havent looked that far into it tho
 
Ok, so I was still drunk this morning. I had a 787 maf not a 055. As ejackulator stated the 055 & 399 won't be a direct swap. Evo-Gsr is right, ditch the maf if you can.

Jamo, SD would indeed be awesome but I'm just going with MAF for the start until I get my head around it.
Parabola, I'm interested in this patch loom. I know you can buy them, thanks Jack for the link, but fairly expensive though......
 
Yea jack, hsg have the small plug and 787 which is why I was implying that he could possibly just use that, save cutting/ joining the loom and rescaling if the 787 an 399 are close in the readings and by the sounds of it, they are,
 
Yeah, I already have a 055 MAF which I put in when I went e3 ecu.
Don't think that o would want to go back to the 787 as the amount airflow would be less and I don't really want that....
I'll run with the 055 and scale as required I guess. Worse case is I'll just put the 787 back in.

Didnt realise you had the 055 on the car,

Yeah thats what i thought jack, cause i wasnt sure I started looking for a chart that I saw some where showing the hz an flow stuff, but couldnt find it an then got distracted degreasing,
Id imagine once we start getting anywhere close to 500hp then we'll both be sd too

Lol, 500hp? Don't tempt me. Its my daily, as far as the missus knows anyway.....

These transmission upgrades and tuning softwares only to make it more reliable :ph34r:
