4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

if it is only the same price as ECMLITE. is it really worth the puss and pain...why else does this do that ECMLITE wont?

If you haven't got too much wiring skills etc , I'm with BMGTZ on this ! Just use the ECMTuning chip in your stock ECU. Much easier for the less experienced, and what more do you want in features ?? I'll buy the E6 ECU off you... you can put that towards a ECM chip.And then leave everything else stock ander the bonnet. I have a few sets of 560cc injectors as well. Or I can supply you with a chip and take the E6 ECU in part exchange ??. I mostly work on CP and CT Evos these days. It would go weeks these days before I see an earlier EVO or VR4. I can modify the board , send it back, and it will be plug and play straight off the bat !

No boost control on ecmlink lite.
thats about the biggest issue with it. You need a additional boost controller.
but it is easy and simple to use. And the forum on ecmlink is pretty comprehensive. There is even guys that will tune via email. Email a 3rd gear pull and they send back a tune. May need a few pulls but its all in the deal.

@3VOLUTIONIST

PM me mate and find some time to drop round my place and see what your getting into, I'm only up in Ocean Reef. I have Evoscan / ECU flash setup tuning a 2001 Pajero (effectively a VII ECU) and a X (this will show you why simple is better). Evoscan was $25 and the 2.0 cable cost, the rest is free, pretty sure it will tune easily what your planning.

Trying to document my trials with tuning the Pajero, but the most important advise I have for you, make sure you have, or can get the definition files for the ECU you want to tune in you car. Without them you are pissing in the wind and can do nothing. This means finding out the ROM ID of your ECU and making sure its definition file is floating around on the net somewhere. If you cant get one you will need to butter up someone like VR401 to write you one from scratch [insert plug] LIKE WHAT HE DID FOR ME THAT WAS TURLY AWESOME, THANK YOU SIR!! [end plug]

Anyway, if you want to have a look at how it all works, let me know.

Thanks for the suggestions guys :)

So ECMLite would be about $600 and that allows me to tune my current ECU through a laptop. And the other option is EvoScan/EvoFlash which is about $200 once you buy a tactrix cable, then later on down the line I could get an EvoDroid package for the monitoring capabilities.
ECMLite would probably be cheaper if you dont have any of the parts and had to buy Evoscan/flash and the associated electronics, but I've already got the ECU and AFM, so I'm sort of halfway there already. ECMLite looks great but I just can't seem to justify the price for what you get (although having help with the tuning sounds mightily good..)
George I'll PM you :)
