Since this is not a for sale post. You can buy a billet extrude from Motec (or City Performance, motec agent) for $48/1000mm which works out to be 320mm/rail ($15) enough to make 3 rails obviously. All you have to do is goto smart aluminum and buy a 12mm by 20mm bar by 100mm long ($2.70) drill the holes and mount the tab. Take rail and OEM rail to a competent non-b/s-ing engineer who will tap and drill 4 injector holes $30 (cash) and there you go.
Whats the calc about ~$50 for a rail. This is alot easier than you think, and there is no need to spend anymore than $100 for a rail let alone 250. But if you think that is too much work, you can get billet 46g3 rails on ebay.com for about 100 usd delivered, personally i think that this is still way too much.
Anodising in any colour cost $20 for one rail or $20 for 5 rails. Personally i would not run a rail unless it is anodised, that is a very bad idea.
dont forget to add:
- 3/4 UNF screw fittings
- Screw fittings to suit existing fuel lines
- manufacturing and welding brackets (in most cases the car is needed to dummy up)
the above is the most expensive part of manufacturing your own fuel rail as there are 'no cheap shortcuts' to getting it done. fittings alone from memory would set you back around $30-$60
Alot of guys who work in the engineering field who can make these actually buy from us because:
1. we have them on the shelf
2. our 'extrusions' are better thn the generic you can buy
3. we sell fittings with the rail
4. Our CNC bilet rails are tip top quality and are faultless
Alot of the highperformance workshops buy from us for the above reasons too.
If you add up your cost thsi is what you would get:
Fuel Rail $48/3 = $15 call it $48
Engineer drilling? ~$30
Manufacturing brackets ~$10
Fittings $60
Labour ? ~$30
Anodizing ~$20
My approx price is ~$200
Not to mention the time it takes to make it or run around etc.. and the fact that it wont look as nice as a fully CNC Billet rail..
Jon
PS: im not trying to tell you to by one from us etc... cos it doesnt phase m if you do or dont.. im just giving you reasons why majr workshops in australia by from us because at the end of the day they dont have 5hrs to
($80 an hour) fool around with a rail when they can by one and just install it.
