Best way to launch

hi guys.. was just curous whats the best way to launch for a quarter run or even a street drag..? or what do use normally do..

and how much can i launch it at with the stock clutch..

Pulse the revs between 6--6,500rpm, then sidestep the clutch and step on the accelerator at the same time :lol:

The rpm you launch at depends on what turbo you're running and how much grip you have, and whether or not you're running some form of launch control.

A Stock GSR running a TD04 and no LSDs pulse revs at around the 5000rpm mark and release the clutch quickly (not a full dump) to introduce some wheelspin off the line. Then just slam it into gear as fast as you can down the strip. On a TD04 equipped GSR change at 6000rpm and hold it in 4th across the line.

also wheel/tyre size and power determins launch rpm.
my car if i launch it how i used to at 7+ just spins up, it spins up my 19's easily now with 7k or more.

personally im a big fan of launch control systems as you cant really messup a launch.

im just running 16inch wheels.. and everything else is stock..

just exhaust and filter.. and boost is about 13-14 psi

what does pulse revs mean?

would my clutch/gearbox be able to handle a 6k launch?

I agree here, had my best time with a 4750-5000 launch. But that was years ago, would love to try a 7k launch

ive tried 7k launches in my old evo :lol:

ppl who have known or seen me ages ago would tell you how mean those launches were.

yeh 7k launches are tuff as in ure old evo but i damaged a syncro last time i did that a lil bit of whining so now i just give her bout 6k its enuff spins up a bit much sometimes though its nice wen she hooks straight in an slingshots u yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

the 1.74 was from a 7k launch at calder hooked straight in runnin on 17' wheels

imo if your tyres aren't giving way then something else is bound to (i.e. gearbox).

in my GSR i tend to laucnh at 5500-6000rpm and ride the clutch out, this stops me getting too much wheelspin and lets me build boost while im launching. I average a 1.8 60ft time and .480 reaction time with no launching aids at all ie, launch control/antilag. Not too good for the clutch but keeps the gearbox happy and the wheelspin down.

I do this with the stock mags on, slightly higher revs with the 17's on

I found when i raced my evo that feathering the throttle and bringing the revs up to 6k and side steping the clutch gave me the best times.
