I have a bit of time up my sleeve at the moment and I was going to buy BF2 Bad Company for PC.....

I've got a PS3 as well, but I think 1st person shooters are better on PC for some reason. The usually strip a lot of the games down for console crossovers anyway.

My question is, Ive got an Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM and an Nvdia 8600 GT......

Reckon the PC will handle it? Ive got COD World at War and whilst it can be sluggish at times its not too bad.

BF2 BC is also about $40 on ebay for PC as opposed to $100 for PS3.....

ive got bad company 2 on my pc its a great game
i run it on a centrino 2.0ghz processor 3 gb ram nd nvidia 6500 gt but i have to run my laptop on a stand with a small fan behind it to stop it over heating but the laptop is 2 years old and on its way out so ur computer should handle it well

I got Battlefield BC2 on PC and finished it a couple weeks ago! Awesome game, I liked it better than the COD and Crysis offerings! I love first person shooters on PC as well... much much better than a console version. You wont be disappointed with BC2 :)

Im running a Quad core Phenom 9550, 4GB RAM, ATi Radeon HD4850 Graphics card and it runs flawlessly with DX10. The 4850 was a great bang for buck card 18 months ago and still going strong. I havent had the need to upgrade it or buy another to run in dual mode yet!
I hope youve increased cooling options for your system as nowadays we need it. After blowing up the power supply in my previous rig (was playing Bioshock when I suddenly saw a blue flame shoot out the back of the power supply and the power went. Touched the top of the tower and it felt like a hot plate I couldnt hold a finger on it for more than half a second!). I now run a Cooler Master HAF 922 tower with Coolermaster 600w power supply - the bitch aint seeing half the temps that it used to now! lol . Definitely ensure you have a tower with plenty of vents and large fans to piss the hot air out of your case at least :)

I recommend this website to check your system vs recommended requirements for games! Let it run the futuremark add-ons and when done sit back whilst you wait til it tests your system: http://www.yougamers.com/gameometer/10372/
It saves a lot of fukn' around and takes the guess work out of it. There's a drop down box to select a number of popular games to check. By the looks of the minimum requirements for BC2 yours will run it

Other games I loved were Fear & Fear 2 (Cant wait for F3 later this year), Left 4 Dead and L4D2, and just finished Resident Evil 5 last weekend. Bioshock got a bit boring after a few hours, but another goodie was Dead Space... man I fkn loved that game! Next on the agenda is Avatar and Splinter Cell Conviction and the next installation of Crysis (not Warhead but the actual Crysis 2). And yes, I love my first person shooters too as you probably noticed lol :w00t:

I have no idea what I'm running. My brother just keeps putting new stuff in there. But I'm loving bad company atm. I don't have much time to play games, but I'm finding myself making time for this. Heaps betetr than the COD's, Crysis, Half life etc.

I hate how most of these games are MMO these days. I don't really like playing FPS against other people cos, well.......most people online are dicks!!

If I've spent a whole day at work dealing with wankers, I really don't want to have to have to put up with them when I just want to switch off and kill sh*t!!

Enjoying re-visiting Company of Heroes at the moment. Tried Borderlands the other day - MASSIVE disappointment. Horrible cartoony graphics just don't do it for me.

Binned it after playing it for about 5 mins!! Enjoyed Batman: Arkham Asylum though, and have just downloaded Assassin's Creed 2 off STEAM. Own all of the CoD Series!!

The room its in is pretty cold, but I have noticed some difficulties in cooling and overheating. It handles COD WAW fine, but Im not sure about how Id go cooling it more with the current setup...... Take the box off? Install another fan?

I never play online, never had the urge to lol
Yeah mate, heat kills and reduces the life expectancy of every component inside your computer so add a fan in everywhere you can. Computer Fairs and EBay have good cases for about $60+ with big fans. The larger the fans the less it has to spin to flow the same amount of air and the quieter it is too.
The main type of tower you want is one with a large side fan and front fan to suck clean cool air in, and then a third fan at the back to blow it out. If your case has a fan on top to suck hot air out (hot air rises) its an added bonus and is found on most gaming towers over $150. Ive seen people just remove the side panel of their tower or emptying their cases and drilling holes in the top ghetto style to help expel the hot air - every little bit helps but it will also require quarterly vacuuming out of dust due to the extra suction and added holes.
Having a graphics card with its own inbuilt copper pipes and heatsinks to disperse the heat is a MUST! Pay the extra few $$ because it DOES make a big difference in performance and longevity. I know with my ATi4850 when I bought it the reviews said the version without copper pipes ran up to 90 degrees when under full load and the version with copper pipes was under 50 degrees!! Thats what an extra $30-$50 means.

What thermal paste the CPU is mated to the heatsink with, and how it has been applied, makes a big difference too.

I've removed CPUs from heatsinks that look like they've had thick layers of toothpaste applied to them! Less is more - and use a good quality thermal paste, like Arctic Silver, and use their thermal paste remover to get rid of the old gunk.

Doing this correctly can reduce the CPU temp by about 10 Degrees, without any other changes.

The above site - pccasegear, is Australian, and a really useful place to get fans and heaps of other cooliing stuff from, at fairly reasonable prices too.

I get most of my stuff from there.

Eh theres a Map called Seelow in COD WAW which I learned every nook and cranny of. I just get a Garand with a scope and snipe people from afar. I use bettys to cover my rear, and after I shoot someone about 3 or 4 times they generally crack the shits and try to come get me..... and end up getting the bettys instead. Good times.
