I've recently bought an HKS Super Sequential Blow off valve for my GTO and I'm just curious when I get it put in do I need to have it retuned or anything, or is it just a simple matter of bolting it on and it'll all be good?

It really depends on how you're going to mount it, and if it comes with a specific flange for your car or not

this is a hks ssq and it cant be plumbed back. i hve one for my car but i havent fitted it back on since i upgraded my turbo and cooler. it makes a squeel noise.

I've run this type of b.o.v to the atmo and never had problems with the stock ECU. I have heard of people having issues though.

Yeah thats the BOV I've got (in the pic). That recirculation kit you were talking about, I have a piece that looks exactly like it in the box. I'd get a pic for you but jpeg site i use to host files wont let me put any on for some odd reason. I bought a specific kit for the GTO from japan.

just plum it to atmo. is there any reason u wanna plum it back for?? just do up the adjustment screw to tight so it wont go off unless u get up it.

if its specific for your vehicle it should just clamp straight in, no probs.
just match it up exactly to where ur stocker goes, u should have no dramas

mine played up on my car wheni put it on stock ecu
yeah thats what im worried about. guess ill just whack it on and see what happens, im thinking cause its specific to my vehicle i shouldnt have any problems, fingers crossed. It's getting put on tomorrow (Tuesday).

ok its fitted. all is well. was piss easy to do apparently. cost $40. fitted perfectly. thanks for everyone's input. ill have to get a pic up some time...

u got someone else to do it?
its as simple as undoing 2 clamps, replacing bov, retightening clamps.
ahh well, all done now ey, how does it sound? happy with it?

yeah sounds alright, pretty happy, got someone else to do it cause aint no way im screwing with that car again, last time i thought i nearly killed it (turned out i lost all boost pressure and it wouldnt rev past 2500rpm, its a long story)

by tightening the screw up on externaly venting valves you go against the reason of having it in the first place unless its only there for rice value.

alot of afm sensored cars suffer all sorts of problems when venting them to atmosphere,I had so much trouble with my trust typeR running to atmosphere that i plumbed it back in,it fixed most of the problem but it still never ran right.

after talking to some pretty clued up guys about afm equipped cars i learnt some interesting stuff, afm's are great on standard cars but as soon as you start upgrading turbo's and intakes etc you start messing with its operating parameters, some cars will simply have no problems where others have trouble alot of which owners simply live with, one way of fixing it is to relocate the afm from before the turbo and install it after the intercooler and before the throttle body this way the afm is not affected by the compressor wheels fluctuation especialy with upgraded compressor wheels, running the afm after the intercooler gives it a more consistent reading and is fine with the air being forced through it with boost pressure rather than before the turbo

i sold my car before i could put that into practise so not entirely sure how well that works.

Ok, I've still got the stock BOV on my Evolution 1 GSR, but the car is equipped with a MINEs ECU which looks to have been chipped.

With that said, do you think it may be ok to get the HKS SSQ and vent to air? Or should I instead get the adapter to plumb it back?

Thanks in advance,
