Hi people,

I am in dire need of assistance with my car.
I have just replaced my turbo because it was blowing smoke and put on
another TD05H (brand new, not reconditioned). However I just took her
for a spin and I still have oil in the compressor side leading into the intercooler. Does anyone know why I would be getting oil on the inlet side of the turbo, for instance is there an oil restrictor that goes into the feed line???
I'm out of idea's and am at a complete loss with it. Can my new turbo have blown seals? :(

Amanda

New turbo's can indeed have blown seals, it's not entirely common but it can happen. Where is your oil feed from, the oil filter housing or the head? Also, you shouldn't need any kind of "restrictor" in your feed line if it's a factory MHI turbo. Hope that helps some.

If the motor is worn, you should do a compression, or even a leak down test, to see if the piston rings are bad. Most experienced people would have checked this before checking or replacing the turbo.

Don't wanna wreck your day, but id say 90% chance its an engine problem. You have excessive blow-by, prob broken ring lands on yours pistons. Creating excess crankcase pressure, and the oil is goin into your intake and then to your comp housing. Check the intake pipe to your turbo, if its got plenty of oil, its an engine issue.

Hi sorry to hear about your problem :(

yep i thought about that and already did a compression test. my engine is fine so thats whi i thought it was the turbo

blown turbo

more details such as
How much oil is in the inlet
is it still blowing smoke
does it only blow smoke on start up
does your catch tank have a filter on it if so are there fumes coming from the filter

Just thought Id let everyone know that it was my turbo return line. I took her off the road to do a full inspection and saw that the pipe had some blockage that was causin the smoke, so its all good now.

Thanks for all the help :D
