Hey people,

I have a cc lancer Gsr I got a bit of a problem with boost.
I got none what so ever I checked all the lines to the solenoid and no visible cracks or splits.
On idle I checked the bov and it was sucking air in except when I hit the throttle,
Oh and I kinda let the oil get a bit low in the engine just forgot to check it so yeah.

Any help would be appreciated??
 
mybe you turbine blades are fooked(ie gone) when you checked for cracks etc did you do a proper leak test. cap both ends of the pluming and presurize so you can hear it. even a very small unvisable crack can cause massive problembs under presure and rubber hoses expand making holes bigger.
 
I haven't checked the propeller blades but the impella seems to still be there haven't done a pressure test will do soon and how do I check if the actuator is jammed? The pin is still there lol
There's no boost at all even when I have my foot down to the ground it seems to fluctuate on vac it's got the same characteristics as if I hit full boost and the actuator opens and the boost drops a bit but it's doing it on vac goes up to 2 and drops to roughly 5 when the revs go up
 
Remove the pin and see if u can move the flap back and forward, hopefully the wastegate flap hasnt cracked or broken off
 
I took off the intake piping and spun the fan with my fingers, it's still spinning. But yeah there's no spool at all when I drive

You need to do this with the engine running to check it's spinning, I had one that spun fine by finger but wouldn't turn at idle and needed a fair amount of revs to get it going (1500).
On the road it made about 3-5psi at 5000 +rpm.

Not trying to be a smart ars* But for ref: intake side of turbo is the compressor and the exhaust side is the turbine.

Just opened up intake today and found that the fan has stopped spinning and or feels stuck I think there's something broken in the compressor housing anyone know where I can buy a new turbo?
 
Found out its a seized turbo, compressor fan just not free spinning, is it bad to drive around with it like that?? I haven't had a chance to change it I found a replacement tdo4L just not sure if I feel confident to change it lol
 
Does the turbo spool up? If not, You may have seized the turbo if the oil has been run too low?

Woohoo!! 10 points to me... :lol: .It sounded too similar to issues I had with a heap of shit motor/turbo that came with my Evo(off a forum member who knows fuck all) for my guess to be wrong...
Changing the turbo is easy man..just a matter of undoing a few bolts and lines and the exhaust, then doing the same thing again in reverse! So long as no bolts are seized or snap off!!
 
Bolts look pretty good there's one on the top it seems a bit stripped doesn't tighten up properly, what about gaskets? Reuse the same ones? How does it all seal up and i do think I need a cork gasket for the oil return any idea where I can get one? Around liverpool?

If I was you, I would be getting all new gaskets and bolts..you can probably reuse the copper crush washers on the water and oil lines that bolt into the turbo if you don't lose them when removing the lines!
