Hello all.

Was messing around with my galant, and noticed a few sockets disconnected in the boot. The plugs are on the passenger side, one with a massive lead.

I'll upload a pic of it all later, but was wondering if anybody had a labeled diagram or something?

Thanks

Also... it's rusting near the boot bracket, underneath the window sill, not on top, and somehow water has gotten in to the spare wheel mount, but is not in the rest of the boot? any common leaking places?

i believe those wires are for your ABS....

I agree with Jay. I think there is also a G-sensor in there somewhere as well.
And a G-sensor near the shifter. Speaking of which, does anyone know what the G-sensors are for? It's not for the ABS is it?

i'm kinda curious as well.. put a new leccy antenna in a while ago and the rear wiper hasnt worked since... all i did was unplug its loom and make one for the new one from the amp so i'm presuming i'm missing an earth or something but i havnt got around to looking yet

Can't think of anything else that would require G-sensors given our non-active drivetrains.

the GGSR's had G sensors on the front for the Air Ride Suspension.... but dunno why else it would be needed on the VR4

I never found out what that sensor need the gear knob is for, I assumed it might be something to do with the rear wheel steering, there's nothing else that it could be used for.

Here's a though, next time you are ont he race track Mo, do a lap with the g sensor connected and then do a lap with it disconnected, report back on any difference :).

Lol, Rob.

Yes I thought the same VR4-Squid.

Ok, maybe I should have read the manual first.
Yeah both the front and rear G-Sensors are for the ABS system.
They appear to be reed switches, with two in each making a serial connection of four reed switches from +12VDC to the pin3 of the ABS unit. I guess if the ABS unit sees the same potential b/w 3 and 18 it knows the car is stopping really really hard.

I also have that massive plug in the boot thats not connected to anything! I thought maybe its for a antenna seeing as my car doesn't have one. Didn't some VR4's have a electronic pop up/down antenna?

I noticed the Aussie spec one's are on the passenger side?

That plug is disconnected in your car due to a not yet found problem (suspected break in the abs sensor wires or out of adjustment sensors) that would activate the abs earlier than it should. I'm surprised it got a road worthy without the abs problem being rectified.

So thats why the light on the dash is still on? That big plug doesn't look like its got anything to plug into??
Not really sure what you mean Rob? Theres a broken sensor somewhere?

The abs computer is there, Tim plugged it in when you came around on Easter Friday, but then I remembered why it was disconnected in the first place. The first owner complained of the abs activating under light braking while turning corners, and as we never got the car running during it's vacation at my place, we never got to the bottom of that issue. The easy fix was just to unplug the abs computer to turn the abs off. But that causes that light on the dash to come on.

Not a broken sensor, but possibly a broken wire going to a sensor, or a sensor that needs to be adjusted properly.
