Hi all,

Probably another n00b question here, but are BOVs a no no in GSRs running OEM ECU? I was told I shouldn't have a BOV in my GSR as I will be guzzling fuel and possibly to the point where Im losing power, rough running and irregular idling? I was told to use a bypass valve instead.

Can anyone give me any advice on this?

Thanks,

Michael

they come stock with one!

plumbed back into the intake i've got one on my gsr engine

thats the BPV that comes stock on the 4g engines, hes talking about a vented to atmo one.
My opinion, I'd just get an evo 8 or X one like myself they are good for 25 psi i've been told and they are stealthy.

EV0300 is right. I am referring to vent to atmosphere valves not the closed loop (recirculating) valves that come stock. I have read that because the stock ECU uses a mass airflow engine management system that the already metered air is released to atmosphere, so the engine thinks it has more air than it does, and dumps too much fuel in, making the system fuel rich and therefore less fuel efficient and also lowers performance.

I was just interested in peoples views on this and what they have in their GSRs.

You are correct in what you are saying/read although not too sure about the lowering of performance bit, that sounds like bullshit...but its really a personal choice. If you like the sound of it -then go for it. But one thing to be aware of in NSW at least, if you get pulled over and they see it...it may not go down to well and you may get sent to the EPA if the copper is a prick about it...

Atmos one on the hot side & plumb back one on the cold side, isn't so noisy, but still looks good.
Cheers !
