hey guys,

yesterday when was driving home i braked to turn itno my street and it felt like my handbrake was on, checked it , it was off all the way. got home and the front left brake caliper was smoking, it had clamped when i braked into the street but seemed to stay on.

All up my front left brake caliper is getting stuck and not coming off the disc hence cant drive the car, but if i leave the car for bout 30 mins it cools down and seems to release off the disc and work as per normal again,

Has any1 come across this at all?

Im thinking my caliper is buggered or could it be a problem with the master cylinder

I have seen this happen once before and it was because the owner had topped up the brake fluid with auto trans fluid hence when it gets hot it expands and locks on the brakes, most likely not the cause in your case but check your fluid is in good condition. The most likely cause is the slides for the caliper have dried up/ gotten dirt in them/ rusted, best that you clean and relube them with some antiseize grease so they are working freely and if the rubber seals are perished/ ripped replace them. another cause could be that new pads were fitted to under size rotors and have now worn out and the pad has fallen out and is jamming the brake on. Just a few possibilitys for you to have a look at. let us kno what the problem is once you have it sorted!
