Brian Crower 280 Cams - Brand New

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

I havent driven on them, but a mate who has had no issues with them at all. As long as you have the supporting mods, and its tuned correctly, it would be fine.

No I had HKS272, I havent decided totally as yet. But something with more lift and more duration at 1mm. I'm changing to a larger turbocharger also.

how would these be like to ddrive daily???
Expect a 1100-1200rpm lumpy idle pretty much and they are better utilised with supporting mods including a big turbo you probably wouldnt consider 'streetable'. If you have a daily driver then stick to 264's or 272 cams max IMO. The big overlap and lift of the 280's would mean you can very well kiss passing emissions goodbye... but that depends on who tunes it and how it is prepared for emissions testing

That car looks familiar .. did Mick tune it? If so, did he get around to changing the fuel pump (or maybe it was the wiring?)?

Yeh Mick built the engine in the silver GSR... i thin he has a walbro pump in it... i dunno

I'll have to ask him when he's over next

Yeah, if it's the car I'm thinking of, it does have a walbro .. it went 300kw atw, but was running out of fuel pretty badly .. he had to pull a bunch of boost out of it in the top end to keep it safe.

bc 280 degree camshafts

I recommend these camshafts, I run these camshafts in my 4g63. I drive my car to and from work etc but I would not recommend idling next to the cops as its very lumpy (tough as though) and requires 1100rpm-1500rpm to keep any form of idle quality, I have been lucky so far. also when airconditioning is used the idle struggles a bit. needs a bit more gas to get moving since a lot of vacuum is lost from idle. i just recently changed to heavy duty hks valvesprings, was running standard valvesprings for about 2 months and started losing power so head came off and found valveseats burnt - whether or not they were caused by standard valvesprings is debateable but its a good idea to replace with heavy duty valvesprings anyhow.. doesnt cost that much more. running 24psi with a gt30 for 305kw@wheels, has been as high as 335kw@wheels on 27psi but ran out of fuel. the turbo is probably at its peak as well with a small .63 exhaust a/r
