Hello all SE QLD'ers,


Looks like i will be in Brisbane for 5 months work, starting middle of next month (September).


i have no idea about the place, what areas are bad/good, night life, things to do/see etc please school me!


i was looking at just getting a furnished apartment in the city but if any of you guys have a nice furnished room in a stable house for rent (near the city) i would deffinalty be keen.

i wont have any transport, not feeling keen to have hire cars for the next 5 months either, so if any of you know of any cheap run abouts i maybe interested in let me know!


looking forward to your replies, and also meeting up with some of you guys too!

Hey bud, give us a hoy when you are in Brisbane, show ya around, what price range for a run around car?

probably 1500 to 2k (mirage/excel,lancer,magna,commonslut,falconator), something mechanically fine and also something not embarassing to drive (read subaru) :lol:

Should organise a cruise if possible. Be easy to meet everyone and rides as well and sight seeing of brisbane landmarks. Might not be a great turn out how we brisbane are hard to plant a date where everyone is free. But I'll be glad to start a thread for it. Will you just be working 5 days a week?

A xmas cruise sounds the go since thats when most of us are available but you might be heading back down for holidays?

i have a car ford festiva manual great condition 1500 can supply oad worthy, cheap as chips on fuel, but defs keen to meet up when your here to show you around

yea just working 5 days a week so i will be able to explore on the weekends

i owned a ford (escort) once, it bent the pushrods as i was leaving the sellers driveway, true story! B). the festiva sounds good, will check it out once im over there.

professional early 30's,


been thinking about buying a car for the company in Perth, then bringing that over to QLD, this avoids an issue of disposing a vehicle after i have finished with it if i brought locally.

such a hard decision,

roughly 5 months hire car fees plus insurances 7k+ for a echo etc i cant claim that back either

yet, if i buy a decent car for the company, atleast its a company asset (my company)


been looking at another 380 or a Challenger so atleast i dont have todo a U-Turn when the road gets dusty.

Here I am, staying at the George Willams central Brisbane! I will be here for a week working, but I have a few hours on ANZAC to remember the fallen.

I drove in from Adelaide just for something different. Was a great drive and I especially liked Stacey's Gap! That was fucking SICK this morning with all the fog around.

Oh and mount Coota tha is awesome as well!
