Hi all,

just thought I would pass on some information about the above business.

I went to them to get some welding done on a PWR radiator. I asked them if the could move the outlet from 1 side of the radiator to the other and asked for a rough price on how much it would cost. the block I was dealing with said we can't give a rough price but it is probably going to be about 2 hours work, so I asked if he could call me with a quote before commencing work. he wouldn't tell me what their hourly rate was. I went away thinking ok this is going to be around $150-$180.

I got a call from them today to tell me to come and get my radiator and that it was going to cost $250. When I asked the owner of the company about the price he said "thats the going rate for welding and if you don't want to pay that then leave your radiator here and I will back over it with my car". The owner also hung up on me twice whilst I was trying to talk to him about it.

To me this is very poor service from them, overpriced for what they did and not a good way to treat their customers.

Thanks
Craig

They should definitely have a formal policy where they state the minimum hourly rate for labor.

It amazes me how many businesses dependent of repeat customers give terrible service, then can't figure out why their business folded...!!

your not the only one, I have not had an issue like that but I have found them pretty hard to deal with unfortunatley.

Have a look on the consumer affairs website, I'm pretty sure from what you have mentioned about leaving the radiator with them, you probably have grounds to work from

If he refused to give you a quote and didnt tell you what their hourly rate was when you asked for it, then that leaves the checque book open
Go back one night and smash his shop front window, that'll make you feel better and cost him $$ from his pocket
Then after he replaces it with a new one, its your choice to go back again for seconds or thirds ;)
It might not be the right thing to do but hey, it'll make you feel better

where is this place mate, but service like that i would get a shit box car for $200 run it through his shop

i'm not looking to sue them, or cause any physical damage to them. All I want is for others to know how they treat customers.

Someone I know was treated like that by a local business a few years back, when they did actually ruin his goods.

Waited until the forecast for a heatwave 40 degree plus week and took to the office air conditioner with a screwdriver.

Not condoning his actions, but it did make my chuckle. :)

I have found that smashing the windows can lead to some unwanted attention as it is fairly noisey .......there are a couple of other ways which are quieter that will still cause some incovenience . they are rather childish but effective a can of space invader into his letter box......best if it is brick and hard to remove.

several tubes of super glue into the door lock and pad locks. change the pad lock on his power meter so that his bills are estimated ........turn off water meter and take the handle off the tap

or put this on PF and call gearbox delivery :D
