hey guys and girls,

i 'had' an alarm in my galant, but both of the remotes have died in the 2 years the car hasn't been running, so i need to bypass the alarm to get the car open etc, can i do this but just taking out the alarm control box or are there some wire that need to be connected/disconnected for me to be able to start the car again?

Without letting potential car thieves know how to steal your car- i'd say take it to an auto elec, or someone who specializes in alarms and get them to remove it properly (and install a new one :lol )

i would do dre, but to do that it needs to be moving, or at least in a position to get onto a tow truck, which it isn't at this stage...

you should be able to get into the car still and at least turn the steering lock off but there is also some auto elects that will come to you

The alarm would be fitted with an immobiliser in it for the ignition. By simply cutting off all the wires or unplugging the alarm wont fix the problem... but it would come damn close to it. Pop your head under the steering column (with the shroud removed) and look for wires going to the thick white wire with black trace on it from memory from the ignition plug. It may be cut, and on either end of the 2 pieces it will have wires from the alarm going to them ( the alarm acts as the go-between to complete the circuit so to speak). Remove the alarm wires and join the thick ignition wires back together to bypass the alarm and run the car as normal  That is usually one of the main immobilisers for the ignition. Depending on the alarm it may also have another going to an injector wire or fuel pump doing the same thing.

OR
You could find the instructions that came with the alarm, it would have come with an emergency pin code that you can enter by watching the LED flash. If you don't have the pin code I can tell you where to find it. PM me if you need it.

Most alarms just use the starter circuit! some I have seen if you pull out the main power fuse it will work also.

if its a factory setup

you have to turn the ingition on and off quickly ten times, then hit the drivers door light button in the jam ten times, (if it doesnt work try 5 times each)

if its a aftermarket

just get a battery in the remote, or there will be a button somewhere in the car on on the alarm to stop the immobliser from working to start the car

Do you know what type of alarm it is?, if not take a photo of the remote and post it, (or pm me with the photo) and i should be able to tell what brand.
Also does you car have a turbo timer, If so it will most likely only have the starter wire cut for the imobiliser.

Cheers Nick.

yes turbo timer, aftermarket alarm, just an el cheapo, the remotes are completley dead tried new batteries, will get a new alarm in the next few weeks
