Hey everyone,
just curious as to how good these switchable boxes are, seen a couple floating round for cheap as and wondered how strong they are
I already have a rebuilt box in with only 150 k's on it so probly wont swap it over, but km always looking for more stuff to hoard! lol

I have a switchable box here too but in bits, also have a switchable transfer case

I don't need any of them

Whats the guts of it like, any of the insides look beefier an look interchangeable with w5m33 boxes, basically is anything worth using?
Would be cool if it was rwd/awd,

Hmmm, So im guessin theres nuthin worth swapping from the c's to the w's, found a couple of them, 1 for a couple of hundred pretty fresh, an the other 50 bux in pieces
There in nz so wont stuff around gettin them for the hassle it'd be considering I can get a freshly reco'd 1 for a grand delivered to my door

cheers for info

The seller said he thinks it does although I never listen to what the seller says so who knows, as far as I know there a vr4 box.
Mikey or tim might know more,
theres a c50 and c51, dunno what the difference is, anyone?

I snapped the 3-4 shifter fork in my original box in the 87 vr4, which is very common even with w5m33 boxes. I do remember reading about the weak hub and sliders like tim said.

So if you pull it apart get larger aluminum shifters from tmz performance or jacks transmissions (but people on here had trouble ages back with them).

I just swapped the selector over, But then grenaded the box some other way later on, I forget. But ive blown 3 w5m33 boxes in various ways also, I used to be pretty ham fisted.

Breaking forks and hub sliders comes down to if your flat shifting or if its a daily cruiser.

I wouldn't pay much for one as some say even a gsr box is stronger. They are a vr4 box though.

Sweet, cheers man, im starting to expand my 6 bolt knowledge, already learnt a heap in the past week or so

and after reading more on rebuilding boxes, im not even gunna go there, think im better off starting with diffs, lol

I was running the switchable gearbox in my coupe when i was FWD, seemed to handle 200kw and alot of hard launches (maybe around 50 passes at WSID)

Only reason ive changed is due to shit syncros
