EASTERNATS 2010

From the EASTERNATS SITE:

Dear EASTERNATS Fan,

It is with deep regret that I wish to advise that as a result of our inability to finalise a satisfactory contract for the staging of The EASTERNATS with Bob Jane and Calder Park, the event is cancelled for 2010.
Unfortunately, at this time I am unable to make any further comment.

From the CALDER SITE:

Easternats cancellation

Calder Park would like all parties concerned to be absolutely clear as to the cancellation of the Easternats scheduled to be held at Calder Park from April 3-5, 2010, and therefore present the following facts.

Fact one

The Easternats under the direction of Jon Davison, the event Promoter, is responsible for the cancellation of the event.

Fact two

Calder Park, the venue owner, was only notified at 5:57pm on Monday evening (March 15) via Email of the event cancellation.

Fact three

Calder Park considers the cancellation of the event to be premature.

Calder Park management is willing to proceed with the event should certain contractual agreements be met.

Fact four

Calder Park is generally apologetic to any persons that have entered or who were looking forward to this coming event.

Calder Park is concerned that the blame for the cancellation has been directed at Calder Park and Bob Jane.

The Easternats cancellation is the direct responsibility of Jon Davison and the Easternats Management and their unwillingness to proceed with the event.

All complaints should be directed to Jon Davison, the Easternats Promoter and Manager.

Ian MacArthur,
General Manager,
Calder Park

The event was probably cancelled because the organisers were scared of being seen to encourage "hoon behaviour" and were bowing to public pressure.

F*ck-knuckles who trash stores and act like that do the greater motoring enthusiast community no favours. If the public perception of all of us is going to start being more and more influenced by those few morons - then all we can expect are greater and more frenquent backlashes against us.

It'll get to the point where ANY sort of "hoon orientated" event will be challenged because as far as the community is concerned - we're all like those karnts who riot, vandalise, steal and terrorise - and who wants to encourage that?

Damn morons.
How would that type of behavior help in anyway.

"Oh, lets now build them a race track and allow street racing because they are all angry"

It's almost like we think its a right to be able to race/mod/play with cars. We seem to forget that it is a privilege.
