Calder Park

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Thanks Baz, correction 11.684 @ 119.75mph.

It was the last run of the night as I had other commitments to go to. During that run it was my strongest launch and felt good resulting in a 1.648 60 foot time. Gear changes were great BUT 4th gear bounced off the limter before the line, changed to 5th while crossing the line. - Now that felt like a few tenth's lost.

Hey Timmy,

How did all the other guys go?
Specs etc of the others cars would be cool too!
The red TME looks clean!
Yours looks tuff!

My specs are:

Car: Evo 6 TME
Engine: 2L 4G63
Track: Calder Park Raceway
Rims: Standard TME
Tyres: Kumho KU31 225/45/17 (32psi)
Fuel: Caltex E-Flex
60ft- 1.648
ET: [email protected]
Power: ~280kws (vdr) @ 1.6bar (tuned by burnzy)
Mods: HKS GTII 7460R Turbo, 264/272 cams and usual mods.

Red TME did a string of mid 12's.
Jimmi (EvolutionTME on EvoOz)
Power: 210kws @ 1.7bar (Springy dyno) - excessive timing on the tune + antilag system (tuned by burnzy)
Mods: Meek piping kit + Meek turbo outlet, HKS pod, HKS full exhaust, walbro. Everything else is standard.

But has had a best of [email protected] a few months back. Now this guy can drive I tell you... And I guess the unorthodox tuning setup helped him heaps.

Here's the video I took (Sorry bout iPhone quality): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pk6g973_orw

White 5 (not pictured) did a 12.3
Chris (k1w1 on EvoOz)
Power: ~260kws E85 (vdr)(tuned by burnzy)
Mods: E9 Turbo, 272's, usual mods.

Gun Grey 6 did high/mid 12's I recall? shifting issues, traction issues...
Harry (yellowgsr)
Power: ~320kws E85 (vdr)(tuned by burnzy)
Mods: 2.4L, FP black, cams etc.

I don't know the Evo 7 guy and don't know what he ran.

I don't have anyones time slips and haven't really talked much about it since Sat. If I get any updates I'll post up.

Tim

Hahaha well that was before I blew my motor.
So Polo I heard you were at Calder on the weekend?
What did you run and can you post your timeslip/s please.

yeah took the car out for a first run. ran a pb of an 11.45 @ 119mph. Having traction issues so need to really set it up right. My friends R35 GTR (2012 model) rn an 11.2 like it said in the book and i beat it pretty easily on the street. So really need to get the traction sorted.

I always say street racing means nothing - all it generally shows is that the faster guy usually has less regard for his license and those around him.....

The track never lies.

That is a bs comment i have tbh.

Track and street are totally different. It would be fair to say that Track is be all and end all if we drove on the track everyday of our lives but we don't. A quick car on the track doesn't necessarily mean it will be quick on the street and vice versa.

Track never lies? Explain the Heathcote MPH traps that read high. Thats just like saying dyno readings are the true indication of power.

Just because a car posts a certain time it does not mean that it is what to go by as i have seen some pretty quick cars struggle on the track and run some really shyte times.

The faster guy doesn't necessarily mean that he has less regard for his license. Im sure you have had your little traffic light races also so theres no point being "mr goody two shoes" about it.

:)

I don't understand what you're saying here at all and if there's any BS comments going around they have to be what's posted above! My comment was only in reference to your concern that you can beat your mate's R35 on the street but he beats you on the race track. Unless both of you are driving flat out you will never have a true comparision between either car. The ONLY place you can (and should) race flat out is on the track. What's stopping your mate from putting his hand up to say "Polo only beats me on the steet because I back off at the speed limit" or "I'm worried about hitting a kid who might run out in front of me so I only drive at 6/10ths" or "That car parked on the side of the road looked suspiciously like a speed camera so I slowed down right when I could have taken him"?

On the track none of that matters - so you don't have to back off, slow down or have concerns about losing your license or killing somebody. You can hold your foot flat to the floor for as long as it takes to win that race or beat that PB time. No excuses. Who cares what the MPH trap speed reads??? It's the competition between yourself to beat your previous PB or your mates that matters.

My first and last "Traffic Light Race" was almost 13 years ago and I specifically remember that I was in fact the first off at the lights, I did pull a car length in front of him and when I realised I was going to exceed the speed limit I immediately backed off because I was so scared of losing my license as I wouldn't be able to get to work if I couldn't drive. What did it prove?? Jack Shit. There was no defined finish point, there was no time slip, there was no purpose. Was he even going flat out? Did he even know he was 'racing' against me or was he just accelerating off at his normal pace wondering why the dickhead in the blue Lancer was revving the shit out of his car and hooning off at the lights like burning rubber was going out of fashion?

13 years ago I was pulled over by the Police and I was very lucky that the consequences were less severe than they could have been. It was the wake up call I needed and I haven't done it since - so I reckon now at 33 years of age and having taken my car out on the track numerous times now to compete against myself and my mates, who I know are going as hard as I am, is the only true way to really tell it like it is.
