Hey guys,

Just wanting to get some info on where I can get a caliper rebuild kit for my CC GSR - front.

Its had some mad squeaking ever since I bought it, and I've taken them off and re-greased them, cleaned them etc and still the same. Also scruffed up the pads and camphered the edges, no change.

I've noticed that the car doesnt roll as freely as it should, and I assume that the front drivers side caliper has pretty much ceased now.

The passenger side caliper is fine, its only ever been the front drivers side.

Looking to do a 304mm front brake upgrade next year, so just want to keep the GSR brakes for the time being and rebuild them if possible, with new pads etc.

Can anyone direct me to where I can get a rebuild kit? Any ideas on prices for the kit?

I'll do both of the fron calipers for consistency.

Thanks for your help.

Josh

ring up your local ABS store, they should have the parts required to rebuild your calipers in stock.

Since you're going to upgrade in the near future, it would probably be cheaper to just buy a pair of second hand calipers off someone who upgraded to evo-spec twinpots.

bin them and grab some twin pots mate- you wont be disappointed.

Yeah I know Josh is looking at doing a 300mm brake upgrade next year so he is looking for a temporary fix. No point putting twin spots under it as he is going bigger in a few months anyway

Yeah but there's no point rebuilding GSR brakes, if no one is going to buy them after he upgrades- may as well do the twin pots for now, then sell them for $$$$ when he's ready to upgrade again??

Single pots should be outlawed IMO!

mine had the same problem yesterday and i rebuilt mine in the arvo took about a hour and cost me 32 bucks a side i got em from the local parts shop, most of them have em:thumbsup:

yeh i agree that makes sense, though I'm on a budget at the moment and didnt really plan on having to spend any cash on the brakes just yet, until i did the upgrade to the 300mm setup.

However, I've just ordered a couple of rebuild kits so will have a go at these on the weekend.

Since I started this thread last week, the brakes have been getting considerably worse, now squealing non stop, and now i believe the disc (front drivers) is warped from the friction heat. The car now shakes at certain speeds and more so under braking. (doubt you can have warped discs machined?)

So I'm just going to find a pair of new rotors to throw on for the time being. When the time comes to do the brake upgrade, I'll still be able to offload the GSR items without too much hassle.

cheers dudes.

i got a soloution to this issue,
i got some GSR calipers.
happy to sell them for $50 for both.

also got some near mint gsr discs. no lip at all on disc.
will chuck them in aswell for an extra $30.

calipers have pads with about 50% life left matched to the discs.

can help with freight aswell. whats your post code and i can get a quote

PM me if your interested.

thanks dude, but a mate gave me a set of disc and calipers the other day of his GSR half cut, so I am going to try them.

I'm getting the discs machined today and will be swapping the brakes over tonight.

Thanks for your offer though.

I've ordered the rebuild kits anyway, from REPCO for $50 each... pretty pricey I thought.....

Cheers.

Woooo brakes are fixed

the drivers side caliper was ceased as first thought.

Got the discs machined that my mate gave me, and Dion and I swapped it all over tonight.

Made a world of difference.

No squealing omg it's like a new car

another problem down, 400 odd to go lol

yeh the new brakes are great, drove to work this morning, no problems..

so quiet...

No just got to get the new lifters and she'll be apples.
