Help Support 4GTuner:

Brake isn't too bad, but the accelerator for long drives is a bit of a prick.
Thinking of getting universal cruise installed simply to save my leg...

Now that i think about it, the angle of the acc. pedal is a little tiresome on on the foot on longer trips.... Cruise would be a great advantage

AP-60 aftermarket cruise control..Has provision for a clutch cancell as well as the brake. You can run speaker wiring from the clutch one
up to a momentary button to dissable the cruise by pressing a button & then you don't have to reach for the brake pedal to coast it.
I haven't fitted my new system here yet. It is an AP-60 but I brought 1 extra brain box, 1 extra harness, 1 extra controll pannel.
Plan is, 2 sets, 2 resumes & 1 common cancel momentary button. So I will have 2 speeds set to resume with = Overkill but handy.
Cheers !

If you're like me and want to go the more expensive option, the AP-500 is around $800 installed and use pulse-rates running from an ECU wire to asses the speed and also uses a tail-shaft sensor which detects the rate of spin to help control acceleration up hills.

i have some sort of cruise control installed in my RVR. was already in there when i brought the car.

it uses a sensor box which screws into the speedo output of the gearbox, then the speedo cable goes into the sensor. problem i had was, not knowing how long the cruise had been installed for (while by the looks) the additional angle it put on the speedo cable caused the cable to fray and fail (month ago).

Another issue is getting a cruise control unit that is compatible with boosted cars, as most units rely on vacum to operate. the normal vacum one is whats in my RVR, but when you hit a hill (and boost) it wont maintain the speed you set.

Still, it all works and its not something i would like not to have.

AP-500 is "boosted compatible" as it reads off the ECU and tail shaft... and doesn't rely on vacuum pressure

I really don't find any issue with the accelerator pedal at all, if anything it's pretty nice on long journeys. My dad has an auto and he really hates it though, he says its very hard to maintain your speed on long trips. Maybe theres different spring rates between manual and auto?

I don't find that to be the case, depends how on the dot he is talking about keeping his speed.
But It's simply about the angle at which your foot is at, and leaving it there for a looooong time.

Don't know the name of the muscle, but it really strains one of the front tendon of the leg right at the base where your foot begins.
Seems your the odd one out on this matter

Dan, I've noticed it too before, but the answer is getting some aftermarket metal pedal covers which allow you to rest your foot different. Trust me, they work.

Come on mate. You have to :) , 4hsg + 1ssg for some photo shootout. Also, if any other rvr owner can bring their beast please do.
Yep, will try mate, want to meet you guys as never have.

Full service, and I should be right to go, leaking coolant bad.

Send me the details by the way, I know of a vague area you were talking about by Matt...

Dan you gotta come so that there is 2 black & 3 white RVRs in the pics. I don't wanna be the only black sheep ;)
Cheers !

hahaha, yeah, it's definitely on my priority list! ;)

Edit: meanwhile, the wife might be coming along... supposed to be our anniversary, but doing that on the Saturday instead B) :D
