cams for 4G63???

hey ive tried a search but cant find anything on this.

im just wondering whats the biggest cams i can go on stock internals using stock springs?? 268?? 272?? im just wondering as ive just upgraded my turbo and im looking at getting bigger cams but im trying to keep standard springs.

I was running 264/272 HKS's on my old VR4 (DIESTI)'s stock head

Inlet. looking back now, I would have gone for 272/272 (like which I did on the VR4'd GGSR I just sold)

you should be right mate, i doubt you will have issues.its just not ideal

what are you going to rev it too?

well whats ideal in your opnion??? um dunno redline now is 7500.

ideal, is with springs and good retainers,and new colletts.

i would not rev any higher than that with standard
springs and 272 cams thats for sure,i doubt they would be able
to control the lift on the cams

the problem is you need an 86mm bore to get 2.4

which is not a safe bore width....doesnt leave any meat
between the bores, they are playing with fire
with that one i reckon

IMO if you are going to run 272's, especially with high lift and long duration camshafts, that you upgrade to h/duty valve springs and chromoly/titanium retainers. Stock springs and retainers just arent made for it. There's more to valvesprings than just things that go up and down.

well in everyones opnion what cams are ideal for a stock head??? and my mate has just got a 2.3 stroker for his 4G63 which should b awesome.
