First off i am very surprised jstyle isnot starting a website about how bad the workshop is that did the job.
Not that i have anything against AFAS.
I would just like to make a point here.
But back to the topic.
Lifters will tick initially with low oil pressure first somtimes before the light will glow.
The car at worst could have a spun bearing on a big end but this is what you dont want and check all you can to disprove around it.
Oil pick up may be loose/blocked.
Oil gallery cap in head could have been left loose.
rear balence shaft bolt in oil pump could be loose.
Front balence shaft bolt loose.
Balence shaft bearings may have spun.
Even a forign body from intercooler piping may be stuck beside a piston but wont effect oil pressure.
Oil squirter may have been left loose/broken.
Broken rocker arm.
These are just some of the issues that we have seen from time to time when cars get brought to us from around the place.
Most of it will be human error caused by a number of reasons in a workshop situation.
Any how you did the right thing by towing it straight away.
That will keep your workshop in a better position to be able to fix the issue.
Any how have a few late nights on us and good luck.

A 4G93 has balance shafts?.. since when...

Ive spoken to Darren.. actually i went over there last week to drop some parts off that he lent me. AFAS is on the case.. Kris.. im sure you know what its like.. they do all their jobs inhouse and dont need to ring other people to question them about what they should be doing... Im sure you can return the favor if Darren needs your advice since he has helped u and wicky out with a VR4 conversion awhile ago ;)

As ive said before.. they have a 12 month/20,000km warranty if the car is serviced there.. so whatever the case is it is under warranty.. unless its void by something the owner did (not saying you did anything olly)!.

anyways back onto the topic of my car..

went to afas today.. sorted things out, and all is good.. car should be back soon :) praise to afas for getting things sorted out nice and fast..

Jon, Chris and whoever Mr Gears is, make your own thread in Off Topic and fight it out there.

I have no interest in reading anything further about it in this thread.

Any further bullshit in someone elses thread will be dealt with as per the forum rules, regardless of WHICH SIDE it comes from.

Take it to off topic or shut up.

Back to olly's car, any updates man? Is it at AFAS yet?

it's already at afas went there today..
everything has been sorted out and will have my car back soon :)

Off topic posts REMOVED.

As for what Entaran and Myself said earlier keep it on topic.

WE dont delete posts or topics.

We move them to the trash.

Thankyou.

Olly, I would be interested to know what the actual cause was if you can find out please. (I don't really care if it was anyone's fault, I just curious as to what the actual problem was).

it seemed my oil pump failed causing a moment of no oil being pumped around causing it spin a bearing. we have no idea why the pump failed, it's like it stopped working for a few seconds and now working again.. but it should be gettin replaced..

just like to add no one is at fault for it, it's just one of those things you can't explain i guess..

I spoke to Darren this morning. He told me your turbo seal was leaking.. which you already knew yet you still drove around on the car with a turbo seal that leaks. Which in turns means that you were losing oil... he said there was next to fuck all oil in the motor.. hence why the oil light came on..

Ok This has turned into a real shit fight over a small issue,

Yes we have a warranty for a reason, we do not have to cover any performance car or modification done but we stand by what we do and always have, even before team 4g, if anyone has a problem with what we have done they can bring it back and we will inspect and rectify the problem if at fault !!!!

Now johnny enough said !!!!

Ok now not having a dig or blaming anyone here, but what has been failed to be mentioned here is the fact that we only carried out a engine rebuild, and yes it has been noted that there was a turbo seal leak at the first service, what has appeared to happen is the car has sucked dry for a split second, and hense no oil pressure, and has scored the big end bearings etc etc, and unfortunetally grabbed one bearing hense the noisey big end, also oil level was low but what can you do, no one needs to be blamed as said before Shit Happens but all said and done I am going to rebuild as required to get Olly back on the road ASAP !!

Darren

AFAS

I guess the moral of the story is to make sure you check oil levels frequently, especially if you know that you have a oil consumption problem.

Darren, how well baffled are the vr4 sumps to help prevent oil starvation?

I did a big end bearing in my Bluebird recently cause the previous owner smashed the tip off the oil pressure switch and I was too dumb to notice that I had no operating warning light (and also it could have been because I was too lazy to check the oil)

Why didn't Jstyle tell me to put oil in it?

Anyway I guess thats why they call it an idiot light.

It took a couple of hours and $30 bucks to fix it (I cleaned up the crank a little bit with some sandpaper and fitted the new bearings)
I still couldn't be bothered to check the oil (but it should be alright, after all I have only just rebuilt it).

Quote of the day!!
