4k excess? + 2.5k a year?

FOK that!? Who's got a spare $2.5K to spend on a 'maybe it will happen or maybe it won't' scenario for a car?
My house and contents insurance is less than $600 a year.

Yeah, thats a shit load guys, Mine ended up at 1.4K a year and I can live with that. It would be nice to see what Shannons can do for me now, but I dont hold high expectations.
Insurance is a funny thing, some people sware by it others sware against it.

Yes well I hope you read the fine print in your policy, because as soon as you have one mod which makes your car unroadworthy: e.g 90mm above the ground instead of 100mm- then you can kiss your payout goodbye.

I had a run in in 2001 where my insurance didnt pay out because the tread on my front tyres was 2mm too low.

The majority of you guys are unknowlingly paying insurance, for absolutely nothing.

Agreed with DRE.

3rd party would be idea to protect the other guy in a case of an accident.
but to protect yourself... lets hope the other guy has insurance and that you have a good security system (like Dre's dogs)

totally agree, as someone said before instead of paying the money to insurance compnay put that money into your own bank account and accumulate and if something happens you can fix it your self without waiting for the insurrer to pay out etc. unless you drive brand new car then yes but with the cars that most of us have it's just not worth paying so much and at the end of the they companies will make sure they find an excuse not to pay out.

Third party is a really good idea if you cant justify full comp. as the Audi you run into the back of may have insurance but you can bet your balls there company will try and get the money outta you!

yeah dont worry i have read the fine print my car is 100% legel,
but i guess you have just had bad luck. For example my NT03s where not coverd by insurence my old rims where didnt update the info, but they where happy to replace the NT03s on my car when i stuffed one and paid me out for it

Prob due to the fact i pay so much.

i know a couple people who work for just cars and AAMi and they just tell me that it is all upto the guy checking your car out like the value of your car you can get more then your payout if you give them good reason and so on and many other things

I thought it was 30, and you have to have clean record for 5 years, i could be wrong though

but just cars excess is crazy high

Just Car.
1.5k a year
1k full excess for me
700 full excess for the mrs
rating 2
everything the car has they know about, even the neons on the interior and tint on the windows- no limit on mods
agreed value of 13,000k
im happy with them and last yr they took off about $350 off the bill

DAM maybe i should sell the import and get a GSR

I had this phone number for a company who also would cover me and they where going to cut just cars price in half but then i lost there number.

i had to call GIO they gave me this number to call a place that would give me another lot of numbers to call then yeah. goto find that again thats for sure

I was with Shannons for my Evo 7.

Valued for $35000, I was 23 and paid $1300 a year. Excess was $400 I think plus $200 for my age from memory. It was a limited use car though.

Me: "So, what is limited use, how many KM's can I do before I can't class it as limited use"
Shannons dude: "Well there is no limit, it's just for cars that don't get driven much"
Me: "So there's nothing stopping me having limited use and driving 20,000km's a year, as opposed to the 50,000 that I could do?
Shannons dude: "Nope"

 Bargain. :D

WTFFFFFFFFFF im going to give them a call when i get my car back Better yet when i get home and get my infomation LOL

Shannons is a pain though because you can never get the same deal twice. Its really odd, I got knocked back because mine was a daily driver and they stated that they dont insure people under 25 for daily drivers.

However you seemed to have gotten around that one quite nicely.

I might look into them again, as I have multiple insurance polices and they have some good deals on that.

Shannons full comp rating 1 for life... $840 on my ute insured for $20,000 with all the mods and having engineer papers for them. Excess only $500 and 1 windscreen claim per year.... Im not complaining, when I originally purchased it for $15.5k....

just on what someone said about satelite tracking, we have our all our plant at work fitted with tracking devices, but i think they use it for more than just seeing where stuff has been stolen. one time the foreman had to stop on the side of the road (in the work ute) to take a shit and yeah head office called us straight up asking why we stopped.
