Hey guys,

I've been looking around for a replacement centre bearing for my CC GSR as the drive train is a bit clunky at low speed.

I called CBC and they don't do these bearings for the CC. Where have you bought your bearings? Mitsu quoted me $132 genuine. Are these bearings only available genuine?

One other thing, one of the diff bushes is a bit savaged... Is it necessary to remove the whole diff and tail shaft to replace these bushes, or can it be done with the diff still in the car?

Meek.com.au has them all in stock on the shelves

Can't find the prices on the web site (for the centre bearing)... I'm in Melb, so I can't walk in and check his shelves. But I might give them a ring, got some bits off them before.

I'm sure what your refering to is a carrier bearing ;)

of course not, my car is a cc glxi :)

I thought you were awd converting it??

Maybe it is called the carrier bearing ... I'm talking about the bit that can make the drive train clunky at low speeds, near the middle of the tail shaft.

The part that joins the two piece tail shaft together? As in the Centre CV. For a rebuild kit, its about $350 or $400 dollars of memory. I've already rebuilt one of mine because of the clunky noise, and it got to the point of making a metalic scraping noise on Deceleration.

you will have too lower the diff down too get the cradle out too replace the diff mount bushes

Are there any procedures on this? Or has anyone got the bit of the service manual that covers this?

Is this what's called the centre/carrier bearing and makes the clunky noises? Sorry I'm a little confused now - I didn't think there was a CV joint in the tailshaft, but then this is my first dealing with a tailshaft in an AWD. There are prices of $90 being quoted and then $350-400. Which do I need? And to clarify, what is the part called?

around a year ago I pointed out where the on line pdf msanuals were for you to down load and read them , maybe ifyou had actually done that you would know what parts are called and also how they work and come apart.

Thanks John, you reminded me I had those. No need to be a rude, patronising prat about it though... ya forum nazi!! Are you rude to people in person as well? Or only behind your keyboard?

At least I make the effort to learn about my car and work on it myself. I've never had a mechanic touch any of my cars which is more than you could say for most. Next time you reply to one of my posts (if you do), leave all the other bullshit out thanks.
