I spoke to hotbits the other day and they told me the coilovers for the Gsr lancer were different to the E1,2,3 coilovers.

Are they not the same and interchangeable?

They basically bolt into the same car...all i can think of is the lower mounts being different..

Jamie.

Yes thats right. EVO II and III have the front sway bar links connect to the strut. GSR's and EVO I's have the swaybars connect to the lower control arms.

As above, they are not the same due to the swaybar mounting. But, Evo II/III stuff will fit GSR and Evo I (GSR and Evo I stuff will fit Evo II/III but will lack the eyehole for the swaybar mount)

as they guys have said the only difference is the tab for the sway bar link. no biggy.
a few options only required for fitting gsr/evo 1 into 2/3

1:you can get the mount welded onto the strut for the link.(i think hotbits have a steel body so this isnt so hard)
2:some c/o brands have a clamp with the link hole that goes around the strut.
3:convert to evo 1/gsr front arms(dont know why you would but...

upper and lower, front and rear mounts are all the same.

Ah ok, thats pretty straight forward.
Thanks for the prompt replies

So basically, the shock and damper strokes would be pretty much the same between the models, just the sway bar mount etc changed then...

From what I've been told E1 sway bars and linkages are less prone to breaking when compared to E2 and E3.

The EVO 1 and GSR front swaybars are thick as and heavy duty enough... thats why there isnt a Whiteline upgrade for them. EVO II/III are much thinner especially when it gets to finger thickness and flat area near the linkages. BUT, the EVO II/III front setup makes for better handling.

Bascially, in a nutshell if you were shopping for coilovers, GSR's and EVO 1's can have struts from any of the GSR/EVO I-III setups (off the shelf, bolt on product) as the swaybar bolts to the lower control arm.

EVO II-III can only use EVO II-III aftermarket struts (off the shelf, bolt on product) as they need the eye for the swaybar link on the strut.

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but there is some good information here which I would like to follow on with.

I own a CC GSR and am in the process of trying to upgrade the suspension...which is proving to be a little difficult. I am hoping to get coilovers and I have various reasons for this, so I don't want this to turn into a debate about why you should/shouldn't get coilovers - that's beside the point.
I know K-Sport make one for the CC GSR, however I am not a fan and would prefer the flexibility and slightly better quality value for money the BC ER series should offer me.

As per the above, I believe any coilover which is made for the evo 1,2,3 will fit the CC GSR as the essential brackets are all the same.
As such I have my eye on the BC ER series http://www.justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=19166&cat=455&page=1&js=n
However the obvious issue in my case (and I assume all CC GSR's?) is that I have a two bolt front strut top rather than a 3 bolt for the evo's.

I really don't want to have to dick around drilling holes or anything else to match a 3 bolt setup so was wondering how I can make this work. I'm trying to contact BC to see if there is an equivalent camber plate they could put on the above coilover to make it suit the CC but am yet to hear back.

As such, I wanted to check with you guys if you had any suggestions. How else can I get coilovers without too much fiddling around?

Would it be possible to buy a front two bolt pillowball camber plate plate and then only buy the EVO1/2/3 shock/damper combo from BC and then use this with the separate camber plate? Or can't you mix and match like that?
Only possible example camber plate I found was this one though - http://www.ftzoneracing.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=179

Any help or feedback would be much appreciated.

the 1-2-3 ones will be fine on your car mate. evos only have 2 bolt tops also(1-3) its only the later ones that have the 3 bolts on the actual tops.

the only difference is the tab on the side of the coil over for the sway bar links to suit 2-3 but you wont need themB)

Wow, I am such a retard. I spent too much time paying attention to generic coilover pics rather than double checking if there was actually a difference in bolt design.
I did think it was weirdly retarded that they made such a change, so now I know the didn't lol.

Thanks for clearing that up for me then DOUGMO!

How much better will the car handle with the evo II III front arms and sway?
I have a gsr 456.4 hp at all 4s on pump fuel . i have cusco coilovers front and rear braces i do have a rear sway bar k mac which im pulling out to make way for an adjustable one also have white line anti roll kit.
I will be replacing rear arms with adjustable ones soon also.
Will that make it understeer a fair bit less or will i have to do the front arms and sways?
