Hi guys have 1993 cc gsr with forged vr4 4g63t. Car has modified gsr ecu harness and unsure of ecu at this point. had cel come on in car yesterday while driving home. Car not been driven for 2 months and only done 15000kms in the last 3.5 years. Although the car was running fine I pulled off the highway and checked everything including maf and tps harnesses, oil, cooling system etc. all seemed fine. I resumed driving and all seemed fine for 20mins highway driving and no probs at lower speeds etc. cel started going on and off intermittently( not flashing) car drove fine i did notice that a quick stab on the accelerator caused the cel to go away no probs driving and performance great no probs with boost etc. just before I got home car ran rough for 3-4 seconds. When I touched the accelerator it misfired quite badly and was then fine. drove fine no cel after that came on boost nicely. Checked sparkplugs when I got home and all even and the correct colors etc will however need replacing as they at close to due. I have replaced the iacv very recently to cure an idle fault so I am curious as to what now??? I think the problem is not apparent until the engine is up to temp and is definitely intermittent. Doesn't seem to be triggered by going over bumps and performance is fine apart from single instance of missfire. I realize that I prob need to have the codes read to diagnose this fault as replacing tps coilpack maf Cas etc all together will cost a shitload!! I am just curious if anyone has had similar issues. I am leaning towards coil pack or fuel related issue but an really unsure at this stage

I've learnt to live with my CEL, was always on in the coupe, is always on in the excel.

If the CEL light isn't on, you ain't driving it hard enough :p

All good considering it did missfire. I'd like my forged motor to stay in one piece is all . This is the most expensive car I've had from a maintenance perspective and I've had some pretty sik rides in nz. I call it the bitsashitty and my father and law calls it the heap. It's a nice car tho.. Lol

something silly mate but is your air filter clean of debre? or maybe your pod might be crushed.

Not sure will have a look when I get home. Has standard airbox with k&n element. Might clean it. Also does anyone know if My Aus spec vr4 maf meter can be cleaned with that air flow meter spray in a can cleaner?? And also if my maf is fuct! Will an Evo 1-3 maf will plug straight in or what's involved in modifying my loom to suit?? Has standard vr4 adm maf ( the one built into the cylindrical airbox)

I had the cel on in my cb. I took out the globe. Ain't nothing wrong with the engine. Fool of a light :p

if you have the factory VR4 MAF then an EVO unit will not be a straight replacement, however in saying this i have done the change myself from VR4 to EVO and it is quite easy.

all you will need is the EVO MAF with Plug, Pretty sure i still have the wiring diagrams on my work PC which i can attach for you.
