Center Bearing

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Chris at Meek mentioned something about perhaps being able to get one, as mine is kinda sagged...

alternatively MMC has them... pricey though.

I have just had new centre bearing on both my RVR's replaced recently. I don't know where my mechanic got them from but they cost around $130.00 each.

if you are going to replace it yourself, make sure when you separate the shaft(s) you mark them with some whiteout first. obviously the whole shaft is balance as a complete unit and if you do not assemble it in the exact same position it will cause vibrations that increase with speed.

just FYI

Carrier Bearing (Propshaft bearing) - Hardy Spicer MI-30-6930 MB505495

Cheaper than Mitsubishi OEM - about $111 is what I paid.

I can get them from Mitsu Japan through a contact for $99.75 delivered to your door.

Wasn't holding out, was just waiting for a quote.

I could certainly organise a group buy.
Price would come down also as the freight becomes cheaper since 1 address and packaged all together.
woudlnt be much, but never the less.

edit: meanwhile, would be about the same regardless as if they all came to me, I'd need to send them out anyway

edit2: Aldo, different part, will check a price on that for you, if it's same as early evo.... which it should be?

Hardy Spicer part No MI-30-6930
Suit Galant hh vr turbo
Lancer Evo (some)
RVR

Just in the process of doing this job on my HSGR.
Can't find instructions for the RVR but the VR4 and DSM indicate the metal side of the carrier goes towards the prop shaft and the dust seal faces the lobro (cv) joint.
(you tube "drive shaft 103")
When I pulled mine apart it was the other way around.
I am now officially confused.

Answering own question
Unless I am supposed to take the rubber carrier off and turn it round the only way the centre bearing can go is with the rubber seal to the front
Otherwise the carrier will not bolt back under the car
