Hey guys and gals,

on saturday i did an oil change on my gsr (engine gearbox and transfer case)

i also checked the powersteering fluid coolant brake fluid and clutch fluid all was ok.

went to sandown on sunday car was nice to drive gear changes felt smoother and easier.

jumped in the car on monday to go 2 work and the clutch felt loose, alot easier to push in for the first 50% until the friction point, thought it was a bit weird looked in the little tank for the hydraulic fluid went was a little in there and then decided on wednesday morning to get some more, then on tuesday i checked it again and there was nothing in there. not one little drop of fluid, followed the line to the gearbox no leaks or damaged.

Where has the fluid gone? Or is this common when u change the gearbox and transfer case oil.?

Thanks Ryan

look at the actual clutch pedal dude, have a feel, if its wet, u know where its leaking..

feel the carpet, the master is probably leaking...

is it possible for the fluid to leak under the surface of the paint? coz the paint around the mount had lifted and blistered kinda

there is no fluid inside the car

Yeah it appears to be leaking on the cabin side of the firewall through the rubber grommet on the master cylinder by the sounds of it. Push the driver's seat back as far as it can go, raise the steering column up as high as it can go, get your head down to where the unit is bolted onto the clutch pedal and have a look. Probably better just to undo the bolt on the pedal, then the banjo bolt from in the engine bay and the 2 nuts holding it on the firewall and take it out for inspection/replacement.

Either that or the hose is split, or the slave cylinder is leaking.

Its got nothing to do with the gearbox/transfer case oil.

Its pretty common for the slave cylinder seal to just perish. pretty easy to fix aswell.
If there is no fluid inside the cabin i would probably assume its the slave cylinder seal. If you look under the car you can usually see if its worn a bit. Also if you try filling the fluid back up and get someone to pump the peddle while you hold the slave cylinder seal (trying to keep a seal) you can get enough pressure back to drive the car.
Just pop your head under and see if it looks like its worn.

unbolt it front the wall of the engine bay... (if it is eating ya paint its leaking Internally... undo the 2 12mil bolts n fuild should piss out from the bak... its a common problem...if nothing...

master/slave cyclinder pull back the boot n see if its wet inside...

there is no sign on fluid inside the cabin.

there is only flakeing paint in the engine bay, i was goin 2 pull it off 2moz and check the seal.

where can u get the seal from autobarn, super cheap?

thanks guys

You can get the rebuild kits (separate kit for master and slave) cheaply at most places. Pretty standard kit for the GSR.

When my slave cylinder died, the fluid was leaking past the seal and filling up the rubbet boot. Then when you would release the pedal, the fluid would get sucked back into the slave cylinder. There was no external evidence of leakage.

Alex.
