4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

so the part number for the 5 puk would be MBK-6429SC, also how much can i expect to pay just for the clutch kit

GVR40

between $500-600 i'd say.
mine was $950 installed.
whereabouts are you? come take mine for a drive if you like...

some might call it an overkill, but i dont see how it could hurt... it'd save you upgrading it again later!

Im not really here to ruin the party but if you launch at all in my experience ive seen about 6 of those 4 spring centre type clutches brake.
Any thing short of that 6 spring ceremetalic like that 3 puk pic.
And a six spring centre organic is your only hope im sorry.

Our cars are all 4wd remember that much grip at the wheels takes alot of fource to spin the wheels if at all you can achieve wheelspin you will need the 6 spring centre.

either organic for smelly clutch Misses Beasley uses this one at woolworths.

Or hard to learn to drive but holds best and shift best 3 puck not to be mistaken with brass clutch which do stick and shudder.
ive changed 1000,s of clutches.

Also make sure your mechanic is educated and stocks pivot balls and shift forks when you change it.
Or you can cheap out use a copper washer under the pivot ball.
And look out for bellhousing wear make sure that release bearing doesnot bind on the mushroom or bellhousing this is what causes your pedal to stick to the floor and not release.
Unlike gsr,s which have a steel sleeve standard.
its $220 for that sleeve to be milled and a gearbox stripdown.

I just called up Tech Sport as regards the exedie (?) 5 puck button clutch and they said there was a price drop down to $490.

$490 + $385 for installation = $875 fully delivered

Not too bad for a profesional job.
