how fast does JSTYLE's "stock" evo go?

i appear to have missed it the last 56 times it was posted
He's proud of that time, and the power he makes

If he wants to post it, why should you get pissed off?

I think this is the reason.

Or let me restate

last 56 times

There's a limit to peoples patience. We don't need to read it every 2nd post.

I'm just waiting for jon to beat it. He'll have to go through and edit at least 50 posts.

Haha Tharaka you're missing the point.

I would be hell proud if i was gettign those times too.

And would def post it a couple of times.

JSTYLES has just gone a little overboard and works it into his post whether he is talkin about the best tyres to use at the drags or the best toaster to do with your kettle.

just for the record... what's the difference in weight between a vr4 and a CC evo?

dre and jon, get back to it, im getting bored!

between 100 and 150 kg.

Or so they say.

I'm yet to see any actual weighbridge figures. Someone bring a jspec vr4 and a e1-3 to ballarat and we'll put em on the same bridge. It's free.

This is out of control. Jon- i dont blame you for not answering bro. lol.

Anyway, there's more than 100kg in a VR4 and EVO......... VR4's chassis are solid. They dont call them 'WHALES' for nothin.

Didnt even notice the thread is here... and the replies are those of what i expected from the people who have posted.. theres no secrets that i dont see eye to with afew of yous.

Go on guys.. enjoy your fun.. ill just go to the track and have my fun resetting times.. and not sharing with you guys where you should spend the money on a car, so you can waste your cash on useless mods cos you heard from someone who hasnt done it before that it goes well..

Oh and im sorry for getting excited when i have cracked a decent time.. ill remember never to do it again LOL

Jon

PS: My Evo weighs 1260kg w/o driver (1340kg with)

Jon its expected to get excited and thats cool, we all want to hear what times you get.

But we want to hear it once.

Take this constructive criticism on board bro don't just dismiss it.

Cheers

Thanks Baz! Finally someone see's where im coming from.

I do admit however i have gone over the top recently with posting stuff and referring to the time but this is just so that people know that if you setup your car right you can potential run similiar or better times then what im doing.

However all this flaming of myself lately has caused me not to share as much info about my setup as i would normally do.. its not rocket science what i have done with my car..

And if any of you guys know me in person you'd know that i would go out of my way to help anyone with advice or hands on.

Just noticed this post, so hey why not add my 2cents.

Firstly, Jon... I respect what you've achieved and hope you can improve on it in the near future. It certainly does show what you can achieve on a small budget. As I'm sure there are alot of people out there who dont have deep pockets and can learn from what you post.

My only real issue is the way you go about it though. I think people get annoyed because you constantly bring it up in virtually any performance based topic. Yeah you are proud, and so you should be, but people dont need to read it in every topic.

Further more, one of the reasons it frustrates me, is that you continually go on about how you dont need to spend money to go fast. Now lets be realistic here. From my experience, I could quite easily have done a setup to run the same if not faster times than what my car will run alot cheaper, the fact remains my car was never built soley to run times. Hence why I've spent alot more in places people skimp on, as I'm after the biggest spread of power/torque possible, while remaining a nice reliable crusier.
While I'm sure your car will run possibly a high eleven, this is with a stock weight car. Add, full leather, electric everything, huge stereo, 18's etc etc, and then try and run quicker times. This isnt a personal attack on you, just explaining why your scenario doesnt suit someone like myself. In order for me to run a high 10/low 11 in the weight of car I have, I require around 420-460hp@wheels. Hence the extent of my engine. I also want it to be reliable, and that also covers alot of the fine details that nobody see's, or hears of but add's thousands to the overall cost. Its no secret that my engine/drivetrain owes well over 30k for parts alone, but hey its purpose has justified the cost to me. Would rather spend big initially and have low maintainance costs in the future.

For even you must be thinking you are wasting money, now that you've decided to ditch your freshly built engine, and started doing a forged engine. Now run this forged engine on the limit, with the big 16g, remapped ecu, and when it fails, which will eventually happen. You'll quickly see how doing it cheap initially, starts climbing to something you never intended from the outset.

Halleluyah!! Tell it like it is brother!! Somebody tell my Mrs to get her to stop nagging me about how much its costing!

Runuts:

You do have valid points but then theres the case of spending money where you really dont need it. I havent spent any money on drivetrain YET but i will be ordering a Cusco Type MZ centre dif and possibly a Cusco Type MZ front 1.5 way LSD. Reasons for doing this is because im pulling 118.76mph and its wheel spinning, which means that it isnt getting what it should do, with that mph i would be looking at an mid 11 sec car in full street trim with electrics.

While you like your ride to sit on 18s etc.. this was not my aim in the car. It will eventually be turned into a track car which i hope to do laps of sandown, phillip island and the likes.

I personally dont think i have skimped on anything on my car, what i have is what i need and im maximising it to the best it can do. Stock bottom end running 118.76mph, never thought it was possible.. well guess what it was done.

I went for an eprom because i did not want the hassle of cops and epa letters. My setup suits my needs and its being maximized. If i wanted an outrageous motor/car i would of done it the first time HOWEVER i dont need it.

All im saying is that i have been in the mitsubishi game for awhile and i have worked out what i need and dont need. Ive seen so many people blow 10k on a car and dont even run close to the MPH my car has done on what it needs.

At the end of the day my car is driven every day and does a genuine 400km a week.

Do you really need an LSD? You might want to look at other factors such as suspension and tyres first?

Semi Comps and Coilovers

Same ones that afew 11/10 sec GSR's are running and im still not getting anywhere.. mind you they have the cusco gear that i want in their cars..
