Hi guys,

I am curious about Converting my HH Galant GSR into a 4G63T. Its not so much the work involved but the legal aspects of it in Victoria.

Would it need to be engineered? Beacause the VR4 came turbo and its basically the same engine and car would be just be a matter of letting Vicroads know for my Galant?

Any light you can shed on this topic would be great.

Thanks

Adam

In Vic all you have to do is slot in the motor (100% stock, no mods), Swap the ecu and looms over. Change the radiator to the thicker one and change the front brakes and front struts over.

Then rock upto vicroads and show them the new engine number. That's it, done.

Other states might suck, good thing you're down where the cold air goes in your intake :)

Don't even bother telling them it's turbo'ed. Just state you changed the engine over and show them the receipt that it comes from another Galant of the same year/series (HH Aspec vr4 whatever). They won't even blink.

You guys have it good down there!

I had to get mine mod plated....which wasn't really a big fuss come to think of it.

Long live the GGSR! ahaha I just sold mine :(

Your best bet is to sell your GGSR and by a VR4. Trust me.

Also, could you please put your location in your profile as per forum rules!

Cheers

how many times has dre said that, and how many times in the end have we listened after learning the hard way, dude buy a vr4 haha

All three of us! Including Dre! hahaha

...Well actually, Dre went the other way around AWD -> FWD

:p

Good to see Jay sticking to his guns though. :)

sif you need a VR4......... TURBO it!.............

theres only 2 turbo GSR's in Vic and its Me and DJ...... we need more!.....

+1 for turbo!....

or turbo your stock engine.....

After looking at the cost comparisons I think it would be better to buy a VR4. I also prefer the AWD over the FWD.

I do like the shape of the hatch but in the end as I said it would be better to just buy a VR4
