Can anyone tell me if a Evo 8 crankshaft will fit in Evo 3 Block 4G63 and is the 8 crank and rods better than the 3 stock bottom end.

crank fits....wouldnt bother with the rods. just get some new H beams because by the time you get the rods resized..replace the bolts etc...you have paid for a set of Hbeams any way

Only if they are 7 bolts

Why would you want to use E8 stock rods? That is the weak point of the CT9A engine.

From memory, stock internals:

Evo6.5 - 7 seems to be the weakest rods.. 8MR looks to have the best piston design...

not really HP that seems to kill them, more so the mid range torque... approx 450nm torque at the wheels seems to put a nice window through the block...

Plenty of 6,7,8,9 engines have done this ^ up here in Brissy.
Mind you they are pushing their engines well past what the factory intended but don't we all?

If its just a stockish power level rebuild he is after I dont see the issue of using the later model gear......

Thanks for the info was mainly interested if E8 crankshaft was any better than E3 if you had the choice of the two when building an engine used for rally. Reliability is the key. Do the E8 have larger pin size in the piston?
