Cruise Control Malfunction

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

I reckon the dude was too much of a dumbass to get the car stopped.
I mean, wouldnt you try the handbrake first, before ringing the cops?

I've had the cruise stick on me on my old Buick Lowrider. I just put it in neutral and turned the car off and on.....

You gotta remember a territory is flybywire not accel cables and shit.

Chances are the thing has so many fucking electronic systems that the handbrake probably isn't a cable either. It's entirely feasible it wasn't possible to stop it.

Also being RWD and at speed, reefing on the handbrake aint gonna do shit, it sure as hell won't bring you to a stop, the car has too much power to care about the handbrake, the cruise will just flatten the accel into the floor and smoke up your pads/discs.

Also, the territories have lockouts on the ignition, you can't turn the key to off w/o putting it in "park" and you can't put it in "park" unless it's doing less than 5kmh. Go test drive one and try it.

Basically it's a piece of shit. I just want to see what kind of halfassed excuse ford comes up with for the failure.

i agree! what a fuckin retard punce!

surely he could overcome the throttle with progressive application of the brake and then once slowed to safer speed the handbrake as well???..... appraently it wouldnt switch off; but i doubt that, so knocking it into neutral would be another seemingly obvious option for most of us

5 mins of fame.

he carried on like that "leave Britney alone" faggot LoL

All valid points.........

But he fails for driving a Territory.

dont know if it makes any difference, but it wasnt a Territory but an Explorer

I stand corrected. Initial press report did say a Territory...

it would no have a lock out on neutral, put it in n and hit the brakes
then turn the fucker off.
might sit on the limiter for a while though.

they should have a "recall" on the dumbass driving it too.

The Herald Sun.and talkback radio has been inundated with comments from people questioning why Ford Explorer driver Chase Weir didn't turn off the engine or put his car into neutral when he realised the vehicle was out of control.

Mr Weir has one message for the knockers: "You weren't in the car.''

LOL.

I actually heard him on the radio, and before calling the cops, he actually called Ford looking for a solution.
He was put on hold for a few minutes before he hung up.
What a tripper.

shiiiiitttttt... that's bad...

and is also bad... this guy in australia gives us a bad name.... happens in the UK, people rip the handbrake, and figure it out themselves... australia... this guy goes calls police and ford... i thought we were all meant to be into DIY!?!?!

lol retard.

what is annoying is that everyone i've spoken to has come up with a good 4 or 5 different ways to have stopped the car.

natural selection.... so close.

Im taking a page out of Marc's book and posting this pic up
Too many cumb dunts and not enough bullets!
