Hi there guys , I have few questions about trying to contol the cyclone manifold.

I have a chipped jdm ecu am going to try a meek adm chip. Has anyone used a adm chip in a jdm ecu & if so how did you find it?

Were there any problem & what did you do to solve? If it is too much of a prolbem I will get a a-spec ecu.

This is more of a technical question ,to what the ecu tells the boost contol solenoid to do. I was thinking if posible could I use the boost control solenoid out to control the cyclone manifold. I would wire the boost control output to a relay to switch the manifold, as the adm chip has no control for the manifold.

Any reply's would be great.

I was just thinking how the boost control works on my ecmlink. Its duty cycle controlled so this would turn the bypass valve on & off and make the butterflies to flutter & not open fully.

You would be better to use the carbon canister control as it is on or off. But I got no idea how to program the chip to change the switching point of that particular output.
I know that ecmlink full version has programmable outputs, I think it available for your ecu

You could maybe contol the butterflies independently of the ecu, I think jaycar do a kit that monitors engine rpm and provide outputs, maybe a revlimiter wired to control the butterfly solenoid.
I imagine to be accurate and factory correct, you really need to monitor afm and set the switching point to a hertz frequency or specific airflow value. Good luck with that.

You can mount a turbo actuator on the end of the mani & have the psi pull the linkage open.
I have a few pics if you need to see one mounted.
Cheers !

This was setup with only teck screws in the mani for the presure test.
I'd mount the actuator closer to the head on a bracket so the pushing angle is better.

Cheers !

Great pics.

thanks mate.

Any feedback on the a-spec chip in the j-spec ecu???

i've read I migt get a fuel pump code.

Any info would be great .

Yeah you will get a check light with a jap spec chip in an aus ecu & vicky verka.
Ask Miodrag if he can write you an aus chip to suit your setup.
Cheers !

so does the setup currently work with your jspec ecu?

If it does I think you can use the method below (I think DSM dudes are using it) to control it with the aspec ecu:

DSMTuners Cyclone control

and another similar example:

other Cyclone control exmple

On the subject of Cyclone control actuators, I think the diaphragm in mine is screwed so, does anyone know the part number or have a spare one they are willing to part with?

PS. sorry to hijack the thread :p

At the moment I'm not sure if its working. Have not really checked, the cyclone is not a big concern at the moment as I might just fit a a-spec intake mani. ( I have a spare a-spec mani )

The car is a j-spec & has a j-spec ecu with a razza chip , but has no rev limiters/ no launch control & fuel maps are way rich over 10-12psi, so I am getting a chip from Meek . I am also fitting some 510cc injectors to make sure injector scaling is perfect.

I also have just order evoscan to log the system .

I am really concerned about the ECL issue that will occur once the a-spec chip is in the j-spec ecu.

At the moment I'm not sure if its working
You can check if the actuator works by disconnecting the vacuum line on top of the actuator with the car at idle. If you listen closely or even touch the lever underneath the actuator you'll hear or feel it drop down and open the butterfly valves...

I am getting a chip from Meek
ECMLink would've been a good option if you could afford even the lite version, then you could use the jspec ecu and not worry about the cyclone manifold issues

I have a few of these lying around...
Cheers Mike, I need to have a word with you soon about tuning with ECMLink so I might have to come round and have a chat and see your wares

I have been doing some searching and I don't think ecmlink works with a j-spec ecu.

I have a full ecmlink in my a-spec , but decided on the easy option for this 1 I want to play with evoscan on this car, but if I feel adventurous and get some time I might try the a-spec ecu in the car. The a-spec is having a break getting a gearbox rebuilt.

I have put some time aside on the weekend to do some work on the car . I going to give it a service & do a boost leak test, change oil, filter , plugs & set the base timing up before the new chip & injectors go in. I'l check the cyclone manifold then.

ECM Link works fine on Jspec and Aspec ecus. If your using a Jspec, then reconfiguring the EGR output is one way of controlling the Cyclone manifold. If using a Jspec on a Aspec car, or a facelift ecu in a pre facelift car, then a minor wiring switch on the loom plug is necessary. there are a few odd ball combinations, but they are easily overcome !
