D2 Coilovers

They will be fine as long as you only drive on smooth race tracks. But, other spring rates are easy and cheap to get (from Kings, Lovells, whiteline, Noltec, K Mac, and heaps of other manufacturers), so its not the end of the world if they are too stiff, as long as the level of dampening can be adjusted to suit different spring rates.

One thing to check though, are they rebuildable by someone local? Expect to rebuild them every two to three years of road use to keep them at their optimum (would recomend annually for dirt rallying or circuit racing).

The vr4 is quite heavy though, so ~8 and ~7 should be alright i think

i have 8 and 7 in my s13, and it was stiff

but people in supras run 16 and 14, and its still sloppy

I think 7's in the back are a bit stiff (might help make the car a bit taily which might be a good thing) and might be ok if you have subs in the back. I get virtually no squat on launch with 4 kg/mm springs in the back.

really?

hmm

cade, go for 6kg at the front, and 5 at the back

theres no point getting coilovers if theyre going to be soft

These photos are with hotbits coil overs, 8 kg/mm spring up front, valving set fairly soft due to rough roads in the event. Rears are 4 kg/mm, valving set half way.

what made you choose 8kg for the front, and 4 for the rear?

im still a noob to springrates, but shouldn't they be a bit closer together?

I didn't chose them, that was how they came from Hotbits. I have since changed the front springs to 6kg/mm as the front shocks had to be set to almost full hard to control the 8 kg/mm springs. Now the shocks are set to half way and control the springs nicely. Having the 8/4 front to rear setup seemed to cause the car to pitch front to back quite badly, that is totally gone now with the softer front springs.

Woah.

If you had given me those pictures and said tell me what I was doing I would have no idea.

I will email d2 and ask whether they will handle different spring rates.
