Dash Conversion - CC to CE

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

i think wiring will be a problem.....all the climate cont and dash wiring is routed through the head light loom back to ecu loom in a ce....i have spread out 3 looms on the ground last year it was a evo 5 loom, evo 6 gsr loom and evo 6rs loom......and theyre all different....5-6gsr were different in the engine compartment but 6rs was totally different cos it had no c/control and wasnt just missing wires, it was had different connectors and was wired completly diferent in terms of wires was located else where.....i cant see the loom being compatible from cc to ce but i guess u can sus it....but id sus that part first

Yeah but if I use the non climate (say out of a Aussie CE) then I won't have to worry about doing the conversion.. Well that is the plan..

I was thinking of covering the dash in black suede down the track.. So if I have to cut and chop, then as a worse case it shouldn't matter..

But, I really would like to stay away from the immediate re-trim if possible...

If you're going to do it, then do it properly with climate and all.

It's not THAT hard to cut and splice wires, it's just time consuming. And making new ducting is the easiest part of the entire exercise.

My biggest question would be about the actual instrument cluster and how that's all going to fit/plug together.

the other thing not many people seem to use is full autometer guage dash clusters OR those fancy Motec/what ever brand aftermarket managment displays

Only thing is I am not that handy with electronics.. So to cut and splice wires is not going to be a job I can do... Add to that the fact that I would also have to change the heater core and make sure all the electronics connected to the vents work...

Theres dash removal guide over at MGLA for CE. I dont have a CC but going by an old Haynes manual it looks quite similar. If you find a dash with a cluster that doesnt have a tacho you can swap the cluster over.

Here are the CE wiring diagrams. I can also scan the CC ones if needed (or even the pages for dash removal). However none of these include EVOs or climate control for that matter, but I have seen some floating around for CE based looms. How about a climate control from a Magna? It seems to be a generic off the shelf unit Mitsubishi used for some years.

Thanks mate... It also looks like the unit in my FTO also...

So I have a spare heater core with the motors on the vents (for the FTO) .. So, I wonder if I could get a more electronically minded person to wire it up ... Still think it may be a bit out of my league... So will see how it all goes...

CC wiring diagrams would be great ...
