Yes, I've heard he has exquisite taste in shit.
(sorry Jamie, couldn't resist).
I'm in the "keep it the same on all 4" camp. It means you can rotate tyres around to extend their life, only need to carry one spare, and certainly a lot less stress on the vcu (which most of you guys wouldn't even know if it had crapped itself until you took it on dirt anyway).
Yeah, cant argue with that, all the same width and size is the go, however, the amount that a tyre sidewall stretches over 1 inch of difference in width is bugger all. In fact i rekon it wouldnt even cause a VCU or driveline issue. Thats just my opinion, others probably wont agree. If it were really that critical and sensitive, then different tyre wear on different wheels would see diffs blowing up...

The Qld modifications guide doesn't restrict the wheel diameter BUT specifies that the overall TYRE diameter must be within +15 mm or -26mm and the widest tyre can only be 1.3 times the manufactures widest optional tyre
Dead right, You've obviously looked this up, i looked the other day..usually the rolling diameter is ok with most upgrades, but people forget about track increase. To be honest, you'd be very unlucky and hard pressed to be pinged for track increase. A cop, or RTA inspector usually wont ask you the offset of your wheels, then the standard track of the vehicle and do the math on the side of the road. However, bear in mind, if the car went for inspection, they could remove a rim, verify and confirm the offset for themselves and then ping you for it. By this time, your generally F*cked anyway, and your car is in impound.
But with the track thing, if its not stupid like zero offset and 10-12 inches wide, they generally dont even look, otherwise just about every GTR and the like would be copping fines everywhere.
When i was once pulled over, the cop asked how wide the wheels were (rears), i said 8, they were actually 9, He wasnt gonna stand there and spend 20 minutes pulling a rim of to confirm this, and this was a State Traffic Task Force guy, one of the worst...Having said that, he pinged me for rolling diameter...but it was 10mm over. My point is, they do know their stuff,at times, but with the track increase, i couldnt see many ppl getting done.
