Dear members.

We are introducing new RULES for posting in the For Sale sections as of MON 18/2/08

If you are a new member ( less than 30 posts ) you can not post for sale threads here.
Any for sale posts made by a new member with less than 30 posts will be deleted immediately.
Please do not post any for sale ads in other forums, as they will be deleted as well.
If you'd like to post here, please establish yourself on the board by introducing yourself, assisting some other members or contributing wherever you can.

*PLEASE NOTE*
This rule will not apply to any current for sale threads that you have made prior to the effective date and you may only attend to it with price changes/description changes etc...and not add more parts.

This new RULE does not effect any WTB (Wanted To Buy) threads and you may post them freely.

This new RULE is being introduced to crack down on members joining with the clear intent of just selling their wares, making a quick buck and disappearing into the night and not to benefit the community as a whole.

Thank you for your Co-operation,

The Admin Team.

I didnt join up to jus sell parts or ne thing like that, fair enuf to have 30 posts but i joined up because i am a mitsubishi enthusist.....but as mod's u have to the power to make the rules..

cheers, sadio

I think its a fair enough rule. Doesnt take much to clock up 30 posts.. oh, there goes another one added to my counter

lol yeah forgive and forget, ill jus keep clockin up my posts :p

Sadio, are you, as a 'veteran' member of this forum with the princely sum of 17 posts, posting the contents of this topic as a new rule, or are you suggesting to the mods that this rule be created ? I'm confused by this post of yours, unless you have suddenly become a moderator after such a short amount of time and which would probably have to be a record ......

the number of posts rule sucks ass IMHO, specially enforcing it by deleting or banning (ala AMC)

i dont think this F/S section of T4G has been polluted by idiots? in fact the mod team here is pretty quick to jump onto dodgy sellers and let the forum users no about it.

ACTUALLY. A few members on the forum have been screwed over by newer(fewer than 30 posts) members just recently(including myself  ) and after careful consideration we have introduced this rule.

30 posts is not as huge amount and we hope that it will discourage members joining JUST to sell their shit then piss off without contributing to our community(and possibly screwing a fellow member over).

Nothing here to discuss.
As Dane has already said, it was only introduced after careful consideration by the Admin team.
And anyone who has under 30 posts and is found to be post-whoring just to get their count up will find said posts deleted thus dropping their post count back down.
Anyone who wishes to argue this can of course. I think the the Admin team here is extremely lenient in most things but we are more than capable of stepping hard on anyone who flaunts the rules!

I guess we have to follow the rules, so no probs and I'm fine with that. I never usually complain.
But PLEASE notify us in the correct method/section and please do not post false advertising..
I got excited when I saw the "Manifold For Sale" thread in the 'For Sale' section as i'm looking for one, just to find out there is none!!

As you can see it has been posted everywhere. There has been no false advertising as you put it. It is not the admin's fault if the rules are not read.
Hopefully this can clear it up for those who missed the 4 threads announcing the changes. :D

personally i disagree with this on all forums, (ever since i was a mod on gsr/evo) purley as it potentially prevents parts etc being sold or at least posted for sale to people that may want or need them..

people could rack up posts first, but im sure there are many people that dont like or really care about forums that would still be happy to sell stuff.. i just think it benifits all..

i can see a danger however in dodgey forsale threds etc..

Sorry I was only refering to this post: http://4gtuner.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8755

I worked that out :)
And as I said, It is not the Admin's fault if the rules are not read.
That is what happened here and rather than delete the thread it was decided to leave it up as it is another way for people to see it.
I've changed it now anyways!

well i think that if the person who doesnt care about forums can come on n post something for sale they should probably ask someone to post it on their behalf.

in the altezza forums we as members cant even post we have to pm a mod our ad and then they post it on our behalf.

i dont think 30 posts is all that bad.

wrx forums have a 2 wk and certain post procedure.

we kinda have it pretty good here.

and we are kinda closer knit then say like evo oz etc.

I reckon it's a fair rule. Over at pulsar.org(when i owned a sss - PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR THIS MISTAKE) you needed to be full financial member. It stops people from just joining up to sell goods then p!55ing off after its all sold. Like it has been said 30 posts doesn't take that long to rack up.

there are plenty of forum whores, like myself, that post on numerous forums, but sometimes dont rack up enough posts to give people a good deal.

i.e. http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56349

this is what i dont like, personally, nazi style rule enforcement. i hope it never happens here!

yes, indeed, but sometimes what you have to sell is relevant to a particular forum, and demanding 30/50 posts "to contribute to their community" can be worth less than what you can add.

for instance i mentioned i would rather post quality rather than quantity, does that mean for every 1 good post i make, means 9 spam posts?

im not saying every new one post wonder should be allowed to post a FS, but if its a cross forum person who is known else where, they shouldnt be disadvantaging the whole forum because of a no exceptions rule.

They would be better off then chucking it up on EBay. Not like any of us dont go check that every now and then for a bargain
