3zercrowd: I know the small 16's exist, I just haven't seen any in an evo turbo.
 
yes i my 93T did go bang, yes it was overboosted by someone without me having the supporting mods... yes it WAS expensive to rebuild at the time (stock even)

but NOW different story, more ppl are modding the 93T, therefore have given way to making more good off the shelf parts being readily available

and anything Jarred says is gosphel :) you da man!
 
it seems like some people does get impressive results from 1.8L motor with stock bottom end too... at this stage, I have to say that this motor is very faithful to me considering what it has been through.

I have also just found out that the previous owner of this car (I am the 2nd owner) had been running 1.2bar boost on the car for over 3 years before I bought it. I don't know how he drove the car but I assumed that he would had push it hard before.

Keep the comments coming people. There still time before I put the car in to the workshop. It has been great discussion in this thread and I appreciate everyones comments.

Once I started getting work done on the car I'll make another build thread ;)
 
it seems to me you one of your main reason to keep it 1.8 is so you win??? and you were worried if you went to the 2l there would be heaps of other cars withe same mods and you wouldnt win??? you should look at it from a what you want within your budget point of view coz there is always someone with more money than you so they'll beat you ive seen a couple of impressive ca18dets that would smoke any 93 that i know of..

hah?? :confused: ...

The few main reasons I didn't really want to go with 2L is because I want to have my "own type modification" ... meaning that I modify it "my way" not others people way ... another reason is that, at this stage, the 2L conversion looks like it gonna cost me more. It doesn't mean I'll win everyone who runs a under 2L ...

And yes I have seen many impressive results from the ca18det too ... but on the other hand I have also seen a very impressive 4g93t. Its not one engine is faster than the other or what, it just how the owner modify it.

Yep .. my friend's CC coupe with sohc 4g93 is running very well too .. only has intake, extractor, exhuast and chipped ecu .. little mods but does make the difference ..
 
yer a guy i now used too run a supercharger off his sohc 4g93 and ran a 13.2 and i thought that was good but now hes running a turbonetics gt3045 but its still in the build but it should be good
 
OK ... this is what its going to cost me to get the 93T complete.

$1500 CP pistons and SPOOL rods
$1800 Labour (estimate)
$600 Servicing cylinder head
$300 Rocker/head gaskets & assorted belts
$400 Tuning & Dyno

Thats make the total of $4600 ... OK i'm broked ...

Will be getting pistons and rods soon .. trying to get all done by end of March.

And yes I know $4600 can get me a nice 2L ... but I just can't find one here lol
 
Add another $500-$600 for block machining and rotating assembly balancing in addition to the $1500 that Dean mentioned.

Why don't you try and assemble it yourself and save yourself some $$$ and learn a bit about your motor at the same time?
 
Stick with the 1.8 the 4g93 can be as good and it is bullshit that a 20g would lag there is a certon someone who had bigger then that on his 4g93 and i didnt really fell any lag in that.
u can build a 1.8 cheaper then a 2ltr just look around and maybe the answers are even on this forum for what fits into the engine.
i say fuck those who say dont stay with the 1.8 but its ur choice when it comes to it.
