So took the HSG to Springy Motors today for a general service and a base dyno tune.
Wasn't expecting anything major, as the only mods are full exhaust with metalcat + split dump & ebay stainless mani, and pod. Oh and stainless intake (for induction noise mainly ;))
But.....to my surprise, ended up pulling quite a decent base figure!

As you can see, not a bad number considering i was predicting at most mid 150's.
The turbo actualtor has been modified to some extent at some point of it's life, a bit crude but effective lol. Seems to be running at about 12-13psi at that power figure according to Dan. It does spike to 15psi on WOT in most gears in general driving but creeps back down a couple of PSI as it nears redline.

Next on the list is some sort of EBC as the mid-range is a little flat, so being able to controll boost properly and giving it 2-3 more psi, Dan assures me i'd pick up 20-30kw in the mid-range and around 10-15kw top end.

FTW!! I love my HSG!! :D :D

Yeah clutz honestly, the numbers don't seem right eh, and even Dan at Springy was surprised as he works on alot of 4g's and again, considering the limited mods.... (it really is just the mods that i listed)
But hey, i ain't complaining lol :D

All is safe as well which is reassuring, afr's are good, little rich at one point but better than lean.. Motor has under 80k so it is quite healthy, another small but possible factor??

Either way, i've got to say it always felt 'quick' on the street, a little quicker than my mates rex with 160awkw (although being the ej25, his torque feels stronger down low) and pulls away from many an 8...which is alot of fun as they NEVER expect it haha.

I can honestly say that my HSG has taken top spot on my 'favorite cars i've owned' list.
Can't wait to take it a little further!

Good numbers mate. :)
What do you use to control air/fuel mixture mate? It seams to lean too much at the end ( 12.0:1 AFR ) showing a bit of drop in you power graph (may be a bit of knocks mate?)

Thanks mate.
Yeah i noticed that little drop in the top end, i have Nothing controlling a/f mixtures.... What would you recommend to controll them champ?
Tuner didn't see it as an issue, but keen to hear your opinion!

I don't see it as an issue mate but having that AFR without any piggyback like SAFC or similar there must be something wrong with your fuel supply or injectors or something else. Stock ECU AFR map is 9.5:1 so why is it running that much leaner i don't know. I wouldn't say that pod filter would make that much of a difference?

I'll be looking into it then champ, like you i doubt the pod has any impact though....
It is quite thirsty i must say, but then that would represent more of a richer running motor... I'm lucky to get 320km's from a full tank, and that's with a good 20-30% freeway. Hrrrmmm
I've been meaning to get in touch with you regarding a chip. Would you see any benefit in one of your chips to bring the afr's down a little in the top end, or a better power curve? U can PM me if you like ;)

Sounds to me like a dodgy O2 sensor or your airflowmeter needs a good clean...
That or you have some work done on your car you don't know about..

Going to check both of those possible offenders thanks Matt, I've noticed in previous threads that those can have some effect on fuel consumption.
How does one go about cleaning the AFM?

In regards to further mods, i've had a good look and all seems stocky mc stock on the performance front, only the mods i've listed really, all of which i've done myself...except the 3" exhaust that it came with when i bought it.

I'm in Melbourne on Saturday and Sunday. I'll have all my tuning gears with me. We could organize some meeting on Saturday. ;)
