hey All

So the VR4 is nearly done, just a few niggly bits to sort out so thought I would post up and see if anyone else has had similiar issues.

The car isnt standard, Has SCm6152e, malpassi, FMIC, 550cc injectors, SAFC, 055 AFM with EVO/GSR Airbox, 3" turbo back, External Venting BOV, a bigger fule pump (Unknown) and a Dr Drift tuned Chip.

NOTE: When i got the car, its had a TC06/TD05 in it with a POD filter and no BOV on the shonky cooler piping.

We just got the car running, setup the Apexi SAFC so it now idles ok.

The annoyance:

- Rev up to 5,000rpm in neutral and it breaks down at this point but can rev past it, Sounds like its dumping fuel possibly, will have to play with SAFC

- If you give the car a quick rev above 3000rpm and take your foot off the accelerator, the car drops revs quickly and will blubber a bit and stall. Again, I think this is a combination of tuning and External venting BOV releasing a little on Decel.

What I plan on doing to try and remedy the issues:

Setup the BOV to Recirc back into intake
Play with SAFC Tuninng prior to getting a ECMlink (Just need car running and on the road to register.)

Now from all I have read, the SAFC Decel Setting doesnt work on Karman Vortex type Air Flow Meters. Anyone can confirm/deny this?

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

Cheers
Denis

Dennis you need to get this car running lol you have had it for awhile!

I think the car you own now use to be AZA's in Tulla. He had a play around with the standard ECU and eeprom chipping it, so it could have something to do with that.
Open up the standard ecu case and see if it has been socketed, pretty sure i think it has been and it should have anti lag and launch control + no lift to shift.

Anyways hope you sort it out.

PS: Daz came into work the other day, havent seen him in ages.. he lives around the corner again :)

Jon

Thank Jon

I will double check but pretty sure the chip is still in there. It has been a long while, this is what happens when you dont have enough time to play with a car :)

As Jon mentioned the stutter around 5000 could be launch control.
I think you should invest in some bigger injectors if you want to play with a 6152

And the external bov will not be helping the stalling issue at all!
Is that the safc that I sold you AGES ago??

Thanks so far.

SAFC came in the car, I think I got the Profec off you?? I can't remember.

550cc injectors will do to get the car running and on the road. Once I fix the minor things ie panel dents etc I will invest in some 800cc injectors and an ECMLink without a doubt.

So for the launch control. Its not triggered by clutch in and in first? All my tests have been in neutral, clutch out.

But the stutter would make sense. Anyone confirm this launch control? How does it work? Is it hold at this stutter?? Or foot flat ?

The launch control in a normal style chip is controlled by the speed sensor. Clutch position doesn't come into it at all.
Get it rolling over about 20kmh to be sure then try giving it a decent rev.

If he tries going over 20kmph and it still stutters, could the ecu not be getting a signal from speed sensor, so stutterbox stays on?

Well appears that the Chip is still in place.. rev it to 4500, all good no pinging no over fueling, Rev it to 5000, starts to splutter and turbo starts to build boost. So launch is in place. Car is nearly done now, hopefully mechanic takes the car for a quick spin to make sure everything is ok :)

Car is still dying on Decel though, But looking for an adaptor for the Type R BOV so i can recirc (45mm outlet on the Greddy Type R, If anyone knows who sells these)

Got the car prety much back together. Quick spin up and down the street and DOH!!! One of the rear drive shafts is dead, Makes it feel as though the clutch slips. Fronts are fine (Already had them out) but never touched the rears.. So this week sometime. Pull them out and see which one is dead.

It appears that the hesitation at around 5000rpm has been resolved, The Malpassi we fitted up was a little high on fuel pressure. Pulled a little bit of pressure (Back down to 50psi from 55 base reading) and car now revs and drives normally :)

Thanks Baz

I thought it was 40.. maybe it was set to 40.. I can't remember :S well its running, not over fuelling and breaking down. Ill double check it when i am around the car again.. Which might be this weekend.
