I am purely speculating that this EVO2 was sold by a member off this forum who very clearly stated the car could not be registered in this country and that the engine was damaged due to a timing belt slip. I am then speculating that it was purchased by somebody in NSW who installed the engine from a (let's take a wild guess) smashed white EVO3 RS and who told me (on the phone!) that "I've got a blue GSR that I'm going to transfer the VIN from to this - all the old rally guys used to do it - so it's OK".EvoOne said:Great find! Did you notice that they have a LHD and RHD RS?
I called the guy with the blue 2 on Gumtree. Reckons "it has a compliance plate". But could not confirm what this was when I asked. Said he would check last night and get back to me.
Furthermore he said he bought it "off a lebbo", "probably needs a timing belt, even though its only got 127k kms", and "had the roof rust repaired". So it sounds a lot like the one that was sold in Melbourne.
Yes trick for young players. You're right in that someone could be seriously out of pocket should the RTA find out. I think they're relying on that though.ENGINR said:I am purely speculating that this EVO2 was sold by a member off this forum who very clearly stated the car could not be registered in this country and that the engine was damaged due to a timing belt slip. This car would be a trap for anybody who purchased it - esp for that asking price. You'd be stuck with something you could not legally drive on the roads.
