A blue Lancer coupe was found at a wrecker, and the VIN plate was purchased for that car. The Evo 2 RS was separated in Japan (the driveline was pulled off the chassis), and the car was sent to Australia in two separate shipments per the laws at the time. Once both shipments arrived in Australia, Martin Grigg bolted it all back together. Perhaps the owner had the wool pulled over his eyes and was unaware that the driveline was actually from a different (non RS) car, hence the air-con inclusion. Whatever the case, it's definitely a re-birth and certainly not eligible for rego in NSW.

You could option an RS with aircon. If someone who has access to the CAPS system has time, they could type in the original VIN and see what it says about the car.

Looks pretty tidy. Is it a Vic rebuild rego car?

Other than the broken gearbox, looks to have had a lot of money spent on it.
 
It was self built from what I know.
Sony would expect it to be of high quality standards. The guy who built it was pretty anal.

Is this owned by a member on here?

Yeah that's Alan's Evo1.

He's on here every now and then but not that frequently.
 
its a personal import, so it's registrable in NSW

I was interested in it, would have bought it but he wasn't forthcoming with information (one word replies)...

My mate has contacted him and had the same response. I guess he's not that interested in selling.
 
Here’s a little more info on it... it was for sale on here 7 years ago... (2011)

It was for sale as is now for $12000 or with full genuine E3 body kit for $14500... by the end of the thread he had returned it back to stock and only wanted $10000....

I like this statement in the new forsale post “Unfortunately the roof rust issue with these cars has finally eventuated.”. It has the rust in it in the first forsale thread on here from 2011. LoL..
