Just received my oil catch can i bought off ebay :D

Looks the part however i didn't get the hoses with it...Will ahve to chase that up.

But the big problem is i picke dit up and it rattled so i shook it over my bed and a whole heap of metal shavings fell out.

There are still some in it. What is the best way to clean it??

Cheers
Cade.

 No hoses? Metal filings?

Ebay strikes again?

Did you actually read the auction details correctly dude? :?

ok my bad it didn't say "with hoses" it says "2 hose inlet"

No biggy i will pop down to bunnings, what type of hose do i need?

Main thing is how do i make sure all the filings are out?

best thing is too clean it a hundred times and if you even think there might be still metal in there clean it again.. alloy or steel shavings.. fuk that e bay i have heard nothin good come of it.. iguess they are alloy shavings?? cause if there steel you could get a small magnet and stick up one of the holes?? worth a try.

lol i shook it until there wasn't any rattling. Is it really that big a deal? Isn't that what my oil filter is for? I mean now it sounds empty so there can only be dust left

ok now i take the two hoses off the head and put them into the catch can, what do i do with the two now open nilet pipes on the intake manifold and the air intake pipe?

In a word, you plug them.

you run the PCV Vale to the catch can and LEGALLY you run the other back to the inlet. The catch can sits in the middle. This is how you do it properly.

Otherwise you can simply plug the intake, but be prepared for some roughness.

argh?? roughness?? Please explain? And its a vented catch can so nothing will be legal so whats the best way to do it?

Ok heres a pic of the engine bay:

I was under the impression the 2 red circled outlets go to the catch can and you block the 2 blue circled inlets.

Could comeone please confirm or deny, cheers.

Oh and suggestions on blocking implements :p

confirmed...
but with the pcv.. remove it and install a hose barb...
the pcv only works with vac.. but if your venting to atmo, you'll have no vac therefor it'll pretty much be not working at all if u dont remove and use a barb..
