I think that I just found the solution to some people’s woes. This is an ALDL/OBD 12 pin to regular OBDII adapter for Mitsubishi's GSR/Evo 1-2-3 and possibly others.
If you have an OBDII cable lying around you just plug this baby in and you won’t have the need for 2 separate cables. Also the cheapest OBD cable that I have seen is some $60. This is $10 posted and you can pick up an OBD2 cable for cheap I believe!
I’m about to buy one right now. Can anyone convince me otherwise?
