not too sure if this is the right section for this, but:
how much are you guys paying for your brake pads?
i was quoted $150 through an rda group buy on sau, but came across this.
DP2954 - $30 us. plus $50 post.
If anyone is interested in a group buy, it works out to be about $65 au. each (for 5 sets).

That's cheap if you can get them for $65AU delivered. Then I suppose you'll mail out to people when they get delivered to you for around $10-$15 Australia wide :)
I just upgraded my fronts to RDA slotted rotors and green stuff pads. Almost makes me want to get a spare set of pads for the next change :) (wanna see how they go first)

they go sweet rob, you will enjoy them :)

damn thats a cheap price! i think i bought mine for about $160 but that was almost a year ago! Id definitely be up for a group buy if we can get em for $65 a piece!

they seem to be old stock, does anyone know if this is the same stuff we get through ebc/rda aus?

i've ordered a pair of rda slotted rotors off a sau monthly group buy (highly reccommended), so i'll be looking at putting something together within the next week or 2.

evopwr: if nobody else is interested, i can order 2 sets at about $75au. each (postage is $50us. plus $25us. per additional item).

EVO-00X: as above, it's about $75au. each for 2 sets so it may be easier to go halves with someone locally.

someone just needs to cross reference the part numbers with the stuff we get here. if its the same part# then its the same product!

Green Stuff had 1 set, but have since turned to Elig race pads from GTPumps.com.au not as noisy, less brake dust, and disk wear is down shed loads over the Green stuff pads.

my EBC greenstuff are quiet and stop really well all the time, my car can be scary how well it stops, a bit of dust isnt bad, easy to clean

greens wont make any noise if they are bedded in properly except for the first few kays when new. but yes they are dusty

i'd agree that for $180, there are much better options out there but at the same price as lucas/trw, they're worth a try. i've already made an order and will have 3 spare sets arriving next week. if anyone is interested pm me before they go into the for sale section.

Anyone on here running "project MU" they are japenese, they were one of the control pads in the V8 supercars, not cheap but awesome pads, i put a set on my R6 an the first big stop i done just about sent me over the handle bars

yep gentle braking for the first 200kms.
They stop very strongly from cold, great for the street.
I'm going Elig's next because they're cheap + easy to order thru Meek.

To run brakes in you dont stop easy for first 200kms. Everything Ive ever read was contrary.

You put them through a few heat cycles, about 8 or 10 repetitive hard stops from 100kph.

I made the first two stops easy to slowly heat the pad and rotor up so it doesn't heat shock them. Then got harder and harder, then last few tried to stand the car on its nose.

I did this twice with my ferodo formula's and they bedded in perfect. Then kept them warm and did a few stops, and crusied along the freeway to cool them down the first time.

It coats the face of the rotor so the pads are rubbing on a coat of the pad material so they bite properly and doesnt chew the disk or pads out.

The above is spot on i used to bed in pads for the V8s after the first couple of stops i would hold the throttle wide open and brake as hard as possible without locking the fronts too, not sure weather that would overheat road car pads however.

Those pads would be made for higher temps, so they require more heat, the more race orientated the pad, the higher temps and more cycles it needs to bed in properly, i.e coat the rotor with pad material.

Even on normal road pads like on my parents magna i bed them in properly but only did one lot of 10 stops, even though now they add a friction coating to a lot of normal everyday pads to help bed them in, as normal joe bloggs wont do it.

Yep we built a bedding machine for doin it after a while an were heat cycling them upto 800 to 900 c that would definatly cook road pads, we didnt have heat sensors on the car so no way really of telling exactly how hot they got, but they were shaw gloowing
