OK.. as part of my punishment for buying a car from interstate, I have to get the thing emissions tested.
Any tips on passing a test? I know about heating the cat up.. also, they test at the manufactured specified idle.. my idle is reaaaaaaaal high when the car is cold (I think a common problem with mitsis), and I have found no definitive way to fix it on the internet.
Also, is anyone well versed in fuels? If I run an ethanol blend, I have heard this lowers emissions, is this the case? Is there some kind of additive I can add that won't destroy the injectors that will allow greater fuel combustion? (Few bottles of metho? heh, I kid). I dont need to get tested for NOx emissions, so I have disabled the EGR valve, this helps... anything else anyone can think of?
Cheers
