Hi all

Have recently purchased an EVO 3, and am building it for a fun street package with the occasional blast down the 1/4 mile.

What I'm wanting to know is, would i benefit with diff cams than the stock Evo 3 items. How would diff cams affect the bottom end/mid range and top end. As i dont want a cam that gives me 5% more topend with a 15% sacrifice of bottom end/midrange. What experiences do people have with cams and the 20g/td05?

What max HP should I expect with this setup, and 1/4, providing everthing else(susp etc) is in order.

Also, at what point hp@wheels, do the 510cc injectors need to be replaced/upgraded?

Thanks in advance.

My current specs are

Fully rebuilt engine
Forged Pistons 8.7:1 Comp
Forged Rods

20G Comp in Big 16G
3" full mandrel exhaust with twin dump
Walbro Fuel Pump
Sard FPR
Custom 2.5" I/C Piping, with EVO 8 cooler
stock airbox with K & N and cold air induction
Custom Remapped ECU, to be done on dyno

Now, I havent actually finished this yet, as the car is in being painted.

Hey there, your the guy selling the OZ rims yeah? Welcome to T4G!

I've seen stock bottom end and stock turbo'd E3's easilly pull 11's in N.Z. I think the quickest one pulls 11.4.

WIth a TD05 20g, your pretty much just reaching that area of retaining your stock cams or not! IMO you should go for a bigger turbo. A bolt on GT series turbo would be fantastic. I have one on my car, with the smaller exhaust housing (.63A/R)

A set of adjustible cam gears could furthermore bring your power band up or down the rev range. Being a 4WD, you dont really need bottom end though!!!

What clutch are you using? I'd reccomend an external wastegate, and of course an aftermarket ECU.

where abouts are you getting the work done??

Yeah dre, I'm the one selling the OZ rims, and a few other bits and pieces I wont be using.

Basically, I want to see how far I can push the stock setup before I go wild with the car. The inital intention was to go all out and just build it to run 10's. (GT35R, external gate, full head work, valves etc). But after drivign the car, I luv the responsiveness, and would like to retain this as much as possible. After seeing qiksilver achieve 236kw@wheels, I was thinking a few extra things here and there and I could possibly reach 250kw@wheels, which I think will be pretty much the most the 20G could provide. After doing this, if I still want more, I will then go down my original path and set about running in the 10's.

Ok, as for clutch.. havent chosen one as yet. Have been doing a fair bit of investigation in that area, as there are 2 things I wish to avoid. Crank walk, which even the engineers at Ralliart told me in person will be a problem with a heavy pressure plate, and I dont really want a ceramic, due to the way they bite. I'm sorting out an organic setup, that should hold 250kw@wheels without much fuss.

Would using adjustable cam gears on the stock cams achieve much more?
(I've been told to go a HKS 264/273 combination? any knowledge of the pro's/con's of this?)

Computer wise, I am actually retaining the factory ECU, which is being reprogrammed to suit. (If I go further into mods, I will change to an autronic)

All engine building work etc, is being performed by myself. Have built so many of these engines its not funny, its just that I've never really experimented with something in this format ie keeping the low/mid range drivability. Hence why I'm searching for as much info as possible.
